So, needed to add a spare. Put it on the roof. I’m strong. This won’t suck…

Remember how I wanted to “Overland”? What kind of Overlander doesn’t have some kind of storage!?

Duy then talked me into getting a Bluetti to power a fridge. He explained that a few solar panels on the roof rack will charge the Bluetti and keep it topped off just fine. He was right when I had two panels. When I reduced to one panel, it didn’t work as well. When there wasn’t much sun, the one 100watt panel would keep the Bluetti charged for like 3-4 days.

I wanted more stance, so purchased some Spidertrax spacers 👀. Oh and at some point I added those Ironman front recovery points.

Your Iron Man bumper didn't come with recovery points for D rings?

No it didn’t. I don’t even think Ironman sells these anymore.

Took the GX to Joshua Tree. My son hated it because of how hot it was, but my wife and I loved it. Felt very majestic and “out of this world”. Didn’t camp or anything, but now that I camp a lot, I definitely want to go back and do that.

We attended the very first Pure 4x4 Base Camp. It was our first time camping with an off-road community. I found out I’m not a huge fan these kinds of events, because it’s not the indulge yourself in nature type of camping, BUT it’s awesome for meeting like minded folks. Befriended some more lifetime friends here. Ged, Tony, Jomar to name a few, but yeah, had a great time meeting folks.

After meeting Tony (Silver GX460 w/Gold Method Wheels) at Base Camp, we coordinated a Norcal GXOR meet at a OHV Park near Sacramento, CA. It was awesome fun testing our GXes and meeting other GX owners.

Added a winch 😬. So far this Bad Lands APEX winch has been very reliable. I’ve used it for self recoveries, recovering others. It’s still working and a winch I’d recommend my friends and family to get. It’s been solid.

Personalized plates arrived. So DJ, is basically the name my son gave the GX. And my son gave the GX a gender too lol. Because when I asked my son, “So what are we naming Daddy’s new car?” My son responded, “I want to name him DJ!!!”. So there you have it.

Ended up camping that day and befriended a group of like minded folks who I later became a member of an off-road family called “Town4x4”.
