Just to let you know that there is unfortunately no update from my end.

I will ping him later if he doesn't get back to me with the current pricing.

FWIW, he told me that he would even consider mailing them to individual addresses, which should save some time/$$.

Hope he will get back to me w/o me bugging him though...

Totally understand! Thank you Mot :cheers:

Thank Mot...

Do you have any more JDM Fog lights?

One of these days I will get around to installing it but I picked up the lines, bracket, and condenser from a 91 cruiser and it looks like it will bolt right up. The only modification I think I will have to make is a hole for the line to go through the battery tray. It didn't cost much to get these parts from a local parting out his truck.

Thank YOU!

I have a pair, but they're in Japan. :doh:

I will not be able to bring them until I go back to Japan for a visit.

SORRY!!

Thanks...

I am still curious to see if this will work. No one seems to be able to confirm or deny. Please let us know how it turns out.

That is the path I too have gone down...have all the parts, including the new shorter Dryer...just need to get off my arse and have them installed and the system recharged with 134. All the bits line up, even the pressure sensor assembly. No reason why the '91 setup would not work.

Will definitely be done before CruiseMoab, as the factory '96 setup is begging to be torn off at the first approach.

Please keep us posted on this. The idea of being able to easily source the parts here in the states is encouraging.

The "glass half empty" side of me questions weather or not the threaded fittings are swappable between r12 and r134 systems.

talked to cdan yesterday I was told the fittings are not interchangable

I NEED A KIT ASAP.

91 setup no likey....

thx

Hmm, not to challenge Dan's infinite wisdom, but overseas at the moment and can access the Toyota DIY site with all the schematics, etc.

I will do more measurements of the fittings when I get back stateside in two weeks, IIRC the only non-compatible part that I can figure is from "Pipe B" as it connects to "Pipe E" if the threads are different. The fitting to the condensor appeared perfect. The "charging" fittings are different between R134 and R12 for certain, but none of these lines have charge-fittings.

The P/N's for the 91 system are:

Dryer = 88471-16040
Bracket = 88472-60060
Pipe Coolant Refrigerant A = 88716-60290 (Receiver side)
Pipe Coolant Refrigerant A = 88716-60730 (Condensor side)
Pipe Coolant Refrigerant B = 88716-60310

The P/N's for the 96 system which are replaced:

Dryer = 88471-50020
Bracket = 88472-60071
Pipe Coolant Refrigerant A = 88716-6A421
Pipe Coolant Refrigerant B = 88176-6A410

The true test is to see if P/N 88716-60310 will thread into 88726-60020, which is the E-line on the FZJ80 (the line which goes along the firewall).

As I said earlier, I have not yet taken out my 96 setup, but have all the '91 parts on-hand (Pick N Pull for less than $20 for the lines). I have laid them out above the factory, and the lengths are perfect. Barring a thread issue between the B & E lines it should work.

Perhaps just wishful thinking, but will know shortly. Pics below from DIY overseas.

EDIT - note that the 96 diagram only shows the low-hanging dryer setup on P3...P1 and P2 for the 96 are a bit misleading.

why is no one looking at the '93 and '94 model year A/C system? They're already 134a and should match your guys' needs.

According to ToyotaDIY the 91-93 have the same part numbers. Also looked at the Europe, OZ and Japan FJ and FZJ models, and as far as I can tell these "should" work. No telling for sure until one of us cracks the system and plugs it all in, or Dan/Beno takes the two different lines and checks the fitment (or lack thereof).

Worst-case scenario would use an adapter between the old B line and new B line, which any decent AC shop should be able to handle.

late 93-94 went to the newer style below the bumper version

My buddy's '93 has it behind the battery which I think is the same for from '91 to '94.

Surely there are two LC's with different locations within a few miles of each other.

Any body with the behind the battery style live in Gig Harbor, WA?
