Pics? I aint seen no pics!

I'm sure if you were in charge there would be plenty of pics. "Camera boy"

I didn't take any pics of the diff's. They did have a few pretty good chuncks out of the one on the front.

Kurt, if you still have them could you possibly post some gear porn for the fellows.

Disregard that last post. I forgot I have pics here at the office...will post them in a min.

I will post some more pics of the gears tomorrow....got busy today and forgot to post the rest of them.

I got a little more accomplished tonight.
The holes for mounting the pulley.....Wow....I would say they haven't had anything touch them since 1978! Georg recommended I pick up a tap and run it thru to clean out the holes. Imagine the Rust!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Took for freakin ever....making sure I didn't mess up the holes. Good call Georg. The pulley is only about 1/2" off of the fan blades??? This O.K.??

Finally got all the welding finished..ready to mount the gear box.

Check out the power steering pump. I used the old alternator mount and I am going to use spacers and washers to get the alignment right...does any see a problem with this? I have 2 mounts on the bottom of the pump, and I am going to use the old upper bracket that was on the alternator.

As long as the pully lines up, you can adjust it and the belt turns it I guess you're good to go.

Later,

James, ring me tomorrow. Your diffs are done, packed and ready to go, I need to get your shipping address as you mentioned it was different then your billing as well as the place they came from.

Also I have both of your ring gears sitting on my bench, I'll post a pic of them tomorrow, very hammered

Finally...just about through with the power steering....I guess.

A cheap transmission cooler will work. Just make sure you can get the hoses from the low pressure side to hook up. When you wan to work on it? Plannin' on huntin' some Sat.

Thanks for the help fellows
greg & chris (with moral support from debbie and stacy)helped me get the front axle out, and the top off off the truck last night.
bodean & chris(with the help of a welder guru from the shop) got the cage tacked together today.

That looks great jrob!

Great progress JRob!

Do you plan on having any rear seat passengers? If so, do you plan on adding more top bars for the rear part of your cage between the second hoop(B hoop-middle hoop right behind your head when sitting in vehicle) and the third hoop(C hoop -at very back of cage)? this would add strength to the cage and protect the rear passengers better. like the two bars at top middle of the front part of your cage.

Also if you plan on using racing harnesses it is a good idea to add tabs for that now. you would need one to two behind each seat depending on what type of harness you use. if you plan on having rear passengers you would need a cross bar like you have now behind the front row of seats.

Here is a great site s'plaining different styles of racing harnesses:
Pirate4x4.Com - Extreme Four Wheel Drive

I am asking ya all this so you can have all that you would need welded on your cage so you only paint the cage only one time. ask me how i know..

This is the P/S cooler i used. It is small, maybe 9 inches x 8 inches.
