No flattener, matte army green was my goal, but I failed realize the flattener was not part of the kit, until we were mixing.

I love the texture to you rig. I'm contemplating rolling on a final coat to hit the spots that didn't get full coverage.

The flattener (VF) gives a good matte finish and a grainier texture. One thing to note is that with the harder, rougher texture, it grabs onto dirt and grease. Nothing a pressure washer and a bristle brush, and maybe some simple green can't clean up, but I bet without the VF it's a bit more slippery and cleans up really easily. A 50% ratio of VF if you're rolling is probably better than the full quart per gallon, that will be my next coat, hopefully in the next month if I can find the time. Congrats on your rig & getting her sprayed!

Brown stopped by today....

The Depo marker lights look like they were assembled by something without opposable thumbs. The lenses don't fit the black housing. The bags they were shipped in stuck to the access glue. But they look good once installed.

I'm waiting for a Slee headlight harness to get here to hook up all my lights.

The tail lights look great, I'm very happy with them. I'm also very excited they fit because we had to reshape the whole rear quarter panel.

Pics fur proof...

Who did you get the lights from? Both of my tail lights are cracked and sealed with tape so I'd like to replace them.

oh I beat on her and will continue to. I'm trying to maker her nice, just once. I built this thing to wheel, not to stare at in my driveway, although my :princess: caught me yesterday admiring my work....

Apparently my neighbors think I'm some kind of military guy..... hahahaha that couldn't be further from the truth.

Today the front bumper will go on and I'll start on my beat up sliders. I have to grind, paint and install.

Last will be the rear bumper, I'm not looking forward to muscling that up and on.

This little project took me 3 weeks. 1 week to strip everything off, 1 week to sand, bondo and spray. 1 week to assemble.

I realize you beat on her, I am way to lazy to fix my dents and dings. I just love the looks of bad ass 80s. Im going with that color eventually. Shes looking real good. Can not wait till shes back together 100%.

I'm lazy too. A very good friend did most of the bondo and spraying. I did all the prep/ grunt work.

I can't believe it, but after all this work, I'm hesitant to take her out. VC Cruzr's idea of quarter panel protection is extemely attractive now. Where before I never cared.
I just ordered Roger Brown's 1" body lift so my tires and bondo work lasts a bit longer.

I would hesitate too

Got any new pics? Also, did you leave the door handles on & the trim at the bottom of the side windows on there when you sprayed it? Reason why I ask is that my quarters have been resprayed in the past & I can see a tape line just below that trim & I don't want to have a tape line when I line my rig. Lastly, what did you do about the door jambs, did you line that too? Pics would be awesome for that too!

Thanks again & your rig is looking great!

Looks good Mike! The color and texture looks tough!
Thanks Sam! Are you home yet? TDS this weekend!

Thanks! I took the trim off around the windows but left the door handles on. Be careful taking the trim off the front and middle row windows, the plastic clips break easily and you have to buy a whole new trim piece vs just the plastic clips. The rear sliding window trim has different clips that don't break as easy but if you do happen to break one, you can order the new clip from a parts vendor here on mud (Clip, Door Glass Pn: 68211-60030).
I didn't line the door jambs - doing so would require a lot more masking. I do plan on rolling on another coat as there is a bit of white showing through on some spots and some vinyl flattener is required to get rid of some glare, while doing so I'll probably do the jambs.

where did you get the clear turn lights at?

looks good with its new gator skin coat.

Thanks Cody. I bought the clear lights on ebay. Neondials ebay store specifically. 91-97 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER FJ80 CLEAR BUMPER LIGHTS+BULB | eBay
My truck has a bit of an identity crisis. It has 3 names, 1973Guppie deemed it "Booger", VC Cruzr named it "The Croc" and my good buddy named it "Swamp Thing". I'm leaning towards "Swamp Thing".

I've been waiting on a few odds and ends to wrap up this project. I just got my Roger Brown 1" body lift and am waiting for a new steering gear box. I ordered some black rivets to match the louvers but they are still a week out from delivery. I'll probably end up installing the louvers with silver rivets then drill them out when the black ones arrive.

Mike,
What did you use for to remove that trim & how did you get it off?
Thanks again.

E.

The front window trim as a screw holding it in place along with clips. I used a flat head screw driver and a slight twist to "pop" the clips loose. Try and place the screw driver under the clips to help avoid breakage. There might be a better way, if someone wants to chime in. The middle row windows don't have the screw. I was only able to save a few clips per side - but it still holds it firmly in place.

Excellent. Thanx!

Until you get Heather ridin' shotgun withya', you aint callin' it "SwampThing".

I still say "Croc", Hot Chics dig "Crocs", He He He!

Funny one.
