I just installed a dome light and it wouldn’t work. Fuse was blown. Installed a new fuse and pop goes the weasel again. Hmm. Wiring diagram led me to the lighter. If I pull the lighter out and replace the fuse my dome light works great so it must be this baby. It fits nice but it does look to be too new.

Looks like a later lighter, but it shouldn't matter. My FJ60 and FJ62 lighters look like that.

20A fuse. They blow as soon as I put it in. Its probably been like that since I bought it 10+ years ago. I just never noticed till I bought a dome light

No , That is Not the correct Lighter , Element for your 77 FJ40

The OEM Parts Maker for a 77 FJ40 Cig. is

This should be stamped clearly on the chrome lip part of the Element and also the socket itself
