I swear that there is an option to put a short air conditioner drier in place of the factory unit for a 95-97 landcruiser so that it gets it up a little higher.

Searched and searched and could not find it. Anyone know what the part number is?

I know you can angle it or twist the OEM one, but I am looking for a shorter one. I relocated the last two of my rigs, and it is a major pain.

I've replaced the dryer on my 94 twice and the second dryer was about an inch shorter than the first. I think they were both Denso parts from Rockauto. I don't have any part numbers but they definitely come in different sizes.

Here ya go @2fpower, looks lke about 3/4" of difference, and part numbers in the thread.

A/C Drier - does short drier change R134 charge?

And if you want, you can measure the one in my truck. Not sure if the fittings are the same between my 93 and yours, but I replaced it when I changed over to r134. If it is the shorter one, and the fittings match, I should be able to get the part number.

Thanks man.... guess that is why I did not find it. I recall seeing this part of that post....

"Short" drier, p/n 88471-34010
Height: 7.50 inches

OEM drier, p/n 478-0503
Height :11.69 inches

4 inches shorter would be awesome.

Then later @Coolstream posted... ..The stock drier measures 8.125" and the "shorter" drier is at 7.250", so < 1" difference

Oh well. Sounds like relocation for Josh's rig too.

Find a tube that slips over it and weld it for protection?
I remember changing mine thru the turn signal but forget how it was mounted.

Have used a Denso one for a Taco, shorter, but otherwise the same.

Horseshoe / hand grenade - we talking 4" shorter or 1"?

Also, does it matter to the function of an A/C system the mass of the drier?

(I'm an A/C idiot, here we use it 3x a Summer, and as a dehumidifier in Winter)

Just bend the lines. They can bend quite far without damaging. I did it with unit intact

I like the idea, but the fittings look different.

IIRC, ~3-4" shorter, same fittings, etc. Gently bend the lines to move it up, cut the lower part of the bracket off, done. Works well, never had a problem, we use A/C most of the year.

So, is there a part number for a Denso dryer which is short and plug and play?

Bump. Still looking for a Toyota part number that nets me more than 1" in additional clearance.
Fellas?
