Aside from the gap issue...that bumper looks sweet overall.

Success! After some bending, adjusting, and more tinkering than I care to admin to got the bumper mounted, fender aligned, and the door lines to look pretty normal.

Looks pretty good! (I just need some 24v LEDs for the signals)

A little gap. Not perfect but should work.

looks to me like the driver fender could use another fender washer to raise it up another 1/16 to 1/8.

My troopy has the exact same gap issues as yours has! I mean exactly the same, same sides and everything, body mounts are fine nothing is out of wack to the eye other than the gap. Just figured my frame was slightly tweaked at some point

It would be interesting to know what the story was with the dent and also what caused it. However part of me doesn't want to know, haha. A washer makes sense. The upper fender is about an 1/8 of an inch lower from the driver's side compared to the passenger at the point it touches the windshield so I need to get in there and move the whole thing (upper where the Land Cruiser logo is and fender) I think. But for now nothing is rubbing so thats nice.

Belts, belts, and well belts...

Replacing my belts today. Turns out the 3bii alternator belt is an odd one. Anyone have a 90916-02239 in the US? Its $16 in Japan with $20 shipping, so I thought I would check on here first. Napa 2522474 is about an inch too short, and the next one up is too long.

Also to make things more fun, the idler tensioner was a fun surprise. Somehow I dont think its supposed to look like that? But thanks to Beno in an older thread I found a spare. (3b Power steering belt tensioner bolt - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/3b-power-steering-belt-tensioner-bolt.1159685/)

*Edit, I spoke too soon, 90119-08493 is about an inch shorter than mine. Back to searching.

Junk in the trunk

Its been a while since I updated this. I've just been working on projects around the house and work in general. I decided a while back that camping in the cruiser I was going to need some storage. The backseat is handy, but honestly traveling with my girlfriend and a dog, the cargo room in the 73 was lacking. So I decided to ditch the seat for some drawers. We can store our stuff down below, the dog, our bags, and fridge up top and I think everyone will be happy. Also scores some expo points, haha.

I picked up the doors used, and cut them down. Then added the wings on the sides and carpet. Its not an ARB drawer system for sure, but its not too bad for $150 in used drawers, and carpet.

Tuffy and cup holders

Added some cup holders (and a 6.5" Tuffy console). Was debating where to put my radio and came up with this for now. Had to bend the e-brake handle mounts a few degrees and put the cup holders on the front sideways. This way you don't need to chop up the console.

Radio swap

Decided to swap out the FT-2980 for my older, but more convenient FT-7900r. Placed the head unit under the Tuffy console (plenty of air flow around all sides) and mounted the head using a Ram ball and mount off the shifter boot. I think I'll find a longer arm, but the medium is not that bad. Also grounded the antenna mount on the rear door using some ground straps from the mount to the door, then the door to the hinge on the body. Should hopefully help a bit.

Power Steering Pump

I have had a slow leak on my power steering for a while. I picked up a City Racer pump when he had them in stock. I've had good luck with his parts before, but ran into a snag here. The BJ73 takes a FJ62 PS pump so that is handy. Anyway, the pump will not seat in the bracket because the left pump (City Racer) has an additional piece that hits the adjuster for the Alternator. Has anyone else ran into this issue before? Looks like I'll have to hunt down an OEM pump.

PS BS

Thanks to @red66toy I picked up a used OEM power steering pump (44320-60090) and installed it. Having some issues with the flushing. I followed Felde's thread BJ73 1985 Power steering pump rebuild - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/bj73-1985-power-steering-pump-rebuild.1240039/ and with the reservoir attached to the pump, and the return blocked on the reservoir, with the hose into a bottle. When I start the truck nothing is coming out of the return and the reservoir is not draining at all. I am open to advice. I reconnected the return and tired jacking it up and turning the wheels as well, and this did pump air out of the return.

I think next up I am going to drive it a bit and try the turkey baster method Need to replenish the power steering fluid - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/need-to-replenish-the-power-steering-fluid.1278546/ and see if that makes a difference.

Edit: I go the system flushed. I just let it sit and tried it again and it worked exactly as Felde described. Only note, is that if you get foam let it sit (I did 2 hrs, fill some more and then sit overnight) and then fill it up to the top of Hot on the scale. It will pull that fluid in the next round.

I've been searching for an option to carry canoes and things up top. The 73/74 does not make that easy with the lack of side rain gutters. So I copied @SKULLYOTA 's design and used some Highland van racks. If anyone has a space laying around let me know. I need another cross bar. I just need to trim the tops and paint them.

I decided to copy @umpqua and put a full size shovel in the front frame holes. Works great. Might have got it a bit close to an obsticle trying out the suspension, but no rattles with the mount.

Also found a decent setup for now for carrying the maxtrax. A set of rok straps around the spare:

Also finally got to use it off-road and that is where the 3b likes to be (not so much the freeway to get there). Its great for just crawling along on the highway and dirt roads. Getting to know the vehicle in tight spots was fun as well.

Its been a while since I had an update, I got distracted by house and boat projects. Summer is here in the PNW and I decided to take the top off for the first time. Not a lot of rust under there (something I was worried about) and everyone seems to be enjoying the fresh air. I just need to figure out something to do for a set of rear doors/tailgate.

Also, does anyone have a good alternative to 58573-90K00 , the rear sill trim piece that keeps the carpet down. Or has someone made their own and cares to show some photos? I have the top off right now and the carpet is flapping all over the place without it. Edit: looks like the 76 series number is 5857360070B1
