I should have done this a long time ago, I've been a lurker of this forum for quite some time. I'll admit I was reading new threads almost daily for like a solid year and a half. But June was my last visit and I have missed a lot. I feel as though I have neglected myself for the past six months by not checking out what's going on.

So here is my 2006 GX 130k, nothing compared to what some others have done. 3in OME lift with 5100s and Duratracs. It spends most of its time on well groomed roads in southern Idaho and northern Utah.

Looks great! What size Duratracs are you running? How difficult was the rear lift to install?

Which OME coils are you running in the front and rear with the bilstein 5100's?

This is all such great information. Thank you! With the GX being the least prolific of the platform, it is nice to know which parts from the other forums we can be on the lookout for to build up the suspension.

Thanks again!

The gx is a Toyota 120 platform. .. which is why we are in this area of MUD. ....
So that being said ...if your shopping for suspension new or used any suspension that fits an FJ cruiser (up to 2010 I think) or a 4runner of the same area as the gx470 models will fit ...
Only differences you have to worry about is swapping out the airbags for springs in the rear and that just takes a spring conversion kit
Hope that helps ...
And anyone fill free to correct me if I'm wrong

The spring rates and dampening strength may be slightly different for the individual models, that may be something to consider when ordering parts. Hopefully someone can chime in if they know otherwise.

Sending some prayers your way for your wife. Welcome. The nice thing about these rigs as a lot of the hard work is far as finding parts has already been done. All you have to do is read on here for a few hours and find just about everything you need

i think 600lb spring rate is what most get for the gx

I had a lot of plans, but unfortunately my wife has had some medical issues that have made things tight financially. So I have to hold off for now.

sorry to hear ... I pray God takes her through that

Best wishes to your wife!

Most of the leg work is done, there are now about 15 different lift combos that are confirmed installed on various GXes, so there are options for sure.

Be careful buying used SPS Light Racing UCA's. They had some serious issues with the bushings they were using a few years ago. The good thing though, is they will replace those bushings with the new ones under warranty. They sent me a brand new set of UCA's, rather than just the bushings when I had issues.

That is good to hear... I think I will be trying to find a used set. They are a lot more expensive than they used to be when I had my FJ.

I am aware of this. I have driven Prados in Central and South America (I leave next week for a week in Costa Rica where we will be driving a new defender 110 for a week, life ain't bad!). By least prolific, I mean least visible on the streets, here in America. Aftermarket support is going to come from the other platforms... Already when I have asked a few local shops about the GX they are like...o_O. For someone to list out the swappable parts (minus the airbag issue) helps when doing craigslist searches for suspension parts. A recent search for GX470 suspension yielded ZERO good stuff. Switch that over to 4R or FJC parts and all of a sudden I have a whole world of UCA's and coilers to choose from... That's what I was getting to. I am aware of the platform, which is why I am here! Getting closer to purchase time. I am starting to feel bad for my 80...
