Hey guys,

I didn't even know this subgroup was around until today. I was stuck in some godawful Labor Day traffic around Columbia and saw the Upstate Cruisers sticker on an FJ80 that was trailering an MR2. Whoever that was, thanks for the tips!

Alright, I guess you're the guys to talk to on this one: What's wrong with this 60?

Sure, the rust sucks, and the mileage is a bit high, but I'm surprised no one has pounced for the diesel cachet alone. Has anyone here gone to see it?

Thanks!

First off welcome to the forum

As for the BJ60, it is from Canada originally and I imagine it has severe frame rust/rot. However I have not seen this one personally but have seen others from Canada and they all seem to have severe rust issues. Also BJ60s aren't for everyonethey are SLOW....... especially up in the mountains with all the steep grades. I have a 3B in my FJ45 and I love it but it isn't a speed demon by any means :D

Go take a look at it in person and take lots of pics and we can give you more feed back.

It's funny becaue I was admiring an FJ60 just yesterday morning at Folly Beach. I thought "Wouldn't it be cool to convert one of those to diesel?" And bingo, there's one in Hendersonville for relatively cheamp money. Having just sold a piano of Craigslist, I'm not going to bug this guy. Lord knows, he has already had to endure his share of tire kickers and a-holes who just wanna talk. I know how he feels.

I might keep my eyes open for one from someplace less road-salty. Maybe Costa Rica?

Good luck with that, those poor Cruisers from 3rd world countries lead HARD lives..... :frown:

best bet would be find a good rust free donor FJ60 from the southwest and then drop that oil burner in it

BTW, Clemson Cruiser, that's one hell of a stable of 45s that you have there. Where do you find all these things?

LOL thanks..... all of them came from out west, in fact the LPB came all the way from Hawaii

That's amazing that it came from Hawaii. I thought all cars commited to HI were there on a life sentence until they rusted to nothing. Which usually takes between 6-8 months.

From what I understand it was brought back by a soilder who was stationed there for a while, it was last on the road in the late 80's before I got it.... now its been all over

It is dead. Look at the rockers in the underbody snapshots.
