Ignition/Starter Sticking

I'm having a problem on cold mornings. When I start the truck the starter stays engaged even though I've let off the key from the start position. I can even turn the key to engage the starter, turn the key to the off position, remove the key, and the starter stays engaged.

I'm guessing ignition switch, but through I would ask this group before I visit CDan.

Sounds like the starter contacts are sticking. It's a more common problem with the 80 LCs. I would take a look at them. You can replace the contacts and plunger for about $20.

Starter is sticking. I had the same problem on an old Corolla. The contacts likely won't fix it though. It's actually the part that makes the plunger go forward. You're prob better to replace the whole thing with a reman. I can get you a price if you want.

Thanks. As I recall this is an OEM reman starter that is probably less than 2 years old.

Any chance it is less than 1 yr old? The Toyota parts warranty is 12 months unlimited mileage.

Your price is $72.72 plus $30 core charge btw. If the starter that is in there now is actually a Toyota starter I can give you the $30 back if you return it. They won't take back a non-Toyota one tho.
