I think i ruined a perfectly good landcruider

trim the fenders, move the rear axle back and NEVER drill new holes in your springs!!! The original holes are put in the springs when the steel is hot; drilling holes in them can create a weak area that either flexes weird or can break with hard use.

<---- has springs with holes drilled in em. 6 years and they havent broke yet.....(now wheres that piece of wood)knock knock

I'm leaving it alone now. I streched it 7 inch in the back and 8 in the front. The steering is perfect and i'm working on ideas for the fenders(front and rear). I am allittle unhappy with the lean. The 55 springs are worked. I finished the frame lengthening today and will put some pics up soon but it ended up being three inches added. My drag link is just forward of the front crossmember. It does look off but it's growing on me. I can live with it if it performs...we'll see.

I just noticed that you do not have shocks in those gratuitous ramp pictures.

Give up some details-What did you use to get the front that far out there? What front springs? What springs in the rear? I am looking forward to seeing it up close at Rubithon.

I just used FJ62 springs in the rear, but my wheel base is only 98 inches. 102.5 is way long!

Dave-Didn't you break a main leaf last year at Rubithon?

yea.... but nowhere near where I drilled it.

Hey Andy,

relocated rear shackle hangers 3" back and used 55 springs. The front is moved forward and i extened the frame to use stock 40 springs. Years ago i mounted my PS box way forward and so now it offorded me enough room to go krazy with the stretch. Front driveshaft will end up around 35"

How much trimming was required for the rear? You said 7 inches you gained in the rear. It doesn't look that much...

Personally I wouldn't have streched the front so far. I would have focused more on the rear...

In the pics there is 6" extra rear wheel base and 8" extra front. I have 1" more i can go in th rear once i extend the driveshaft. Iam not sure how much fender trimming as i have trimmed many times over. but the right now the rear ends right as the tub begins to curve in the back. The picture on your post shows it pretty well.
But heres another

Neil

It looks good, or as good as a SOA truck can look. For what you want the truck to do, you did the right thing. Are we going to see you again this year with broken springs or is that all rectified, are you now packing a main leaf?

best

Ian

Looks awesome

I know that you like that spring under bottled beer but, Welcome to my party.
I've been running 102wb for about 6 years with a SOA and loved it and recently reworked the rear to get 106 plus and let me tell you wheelbase is king.
Keep the Cg's low and start crawling you'll be amazed with the difference in handling. Yes it is a little goofy on the street but off road you'll be happy.
You may get some guys that say SUA is the best but, It's your time, money, and your rig, experement and have fun F-them. It looks great, It's yours do as you want, sounds like your having fun, I'm glad congrats Neil!!!
Hope to see It soon, and nice ramp by the way!!
