I get to school this morning and smell something disgusting, i dont really think anything of until I hear the all to familiar sound of something sizzling on the exhaust, only this time its not my fingers!!!

I look under my truck and there is a good 2 quarts of oil just puring out of some part of my truck...

Thinking academically I MADE myself go to school, but i didnt learn nuthin' cause my mind was on the truck...

I run to Oreillys and get 2qrts of oil, put them in and drive home. No oil drips, none! Until I shut it off and then hell breaks loose... I start it back up and it continues to poor like its no ones business!

Ive got her torn apart, in record time, and I ve gotten it figured out (I think).

I believe it is this gasket, in red

Whats the real name of this?
Cylinder head backing plate gasket?

I'm with Jerod. Check the cam seal at the back of the rocker arm cover. Replace the front one too along with the cover gasket, the stud grommets, and the PCV grommet.

That gasket only seals in coolant. it is the cooler body for the EGR flow.

Pappy I wouldnt call the rear half moon seal the cam seal, cause it does not seal the cam or touch it. Its more or less the valve cover seal. Meh. Either way, thats only thing to be leaking in the back that high up.

other wise its the rear main, but you wont have any oil in the area of the EGR cooler.

I believe when the dealer looks it up that is what they are called.

So Oreillys didnt have the 'semiciruclar plug' in stock, I reused my old one just to get some type of vehicle bakc on the road, it leaks alittle, but not near as bad as it did...

Went ahead and did the exhaust gasket part 2. Believe it or not Oreillys had that one instock!
Which got rid of the annoying ticking and opened up another leaky sound!

While I was at it, I painted the valve cover, and did some Teq symbols on the breather, ill post pics some other time...

Whats a good place to get the 22R stickers? Are/were there any other things beside 22r? like teq or TOYODA?

Dealer. $1.46ea. 11291-35030. This is for 84+ 22R. Don't have a part number for earlier trucks. Don't know if it's different.

did you check for broken engine or trans mounts?

also, i got a few 22RE stickers from a guy off ebay. but they are all probably avail at the dealer.

dont think they have any TEQ stickers.

so what will you do with the stickers if you drop a bowtie in there?

I pryed on the engine with a bar bracd on the frame, and i couldnt get it to move VERY much, but I dont know the tolerance allowed so yes and no. The trans mount is fine, i put a new one in after i got the truck...

Here is a cell phone pic of the new paint job

The semi circular plugs compress when the valve cover is tightened down. That is why they are taller when new. This adds to their sealing quality :)

EEK!!! get some better plug wires before one of them burns up....

I know, I know, but everytime one burns up, I just get another one for free!
One day Ill stop cheaping out and get some GOOD wires, but until then... Im keeping it cheap!

So was the rear plug missing? I just got a felpro full gasket kit for my 89 and the half rounds were way too big, they stuck up close to 1/4 inch above the valve cover lip on the head.... So I had to use the old ones.

No, it had been tackily siliconed in, so i removed some of the silly and it sealed fine!
