I got round cup holders for my 80

That rear section of the center console on the FJ cruiser is quite a bit flatter than the 80 series center console. The slop is also more extreme. My rear double cup holder for the 80 series would not sit flush or level on that. Are there no cup holders for the rear seats of an FJcruiser? This is definitely something I would be interested in developing if the interest was there. I would need access to an FJ cruiser for a few hours to pull dimensions off of it.

Gotcha. Yeah it is pretty much dead flat. There are pockets in the rear suicide doors, but that is it. Cant really fit people back there anyway. There are 2 cup holders on the console itself, but the more the merrier!

If your a member on any FJ forums maybe you could start a thread gauging interest. If you seem to have 10+ guys that want one then let me know. My break even point is in the 10-15 cup holders sold. Less then that and I loose money in the prototyping process. Post some pics showing what my rear double looks like so they have an idea on what the product will be.

The problem is that I don't own an FJ cruiser so it seems odd to become a member JUST to test the waters on a new product. That probably doesn't sit well with folks. I figured if the demand was really there then a FJ owner will start the thread all on their own and pass along the results. If nobody decides to do that, then I know the demand isn't that great and not worth my time.

I think you should register on that forum and simply ask if there is any interest in a similar product as the current one for the 80.

Maybe I will try that in the future. Right now I can barely keep up with my current products. Adding another item is a little scary. I already have 7 fully developed products just sitting on the shelf waiting for business to slow down to add onto the website. I thought 6 months ago business would slow down. It has only done the opposite. I went from 1 printer to 3 to now 7. I am still thinking about buying a couple more.

Sounds like a good problem to have.....

BTW what are these new products?

I dont think the cup holder number is really an issue in the FJs so it would be more to buy to have more storage and for the novelty of having an awesome 3d printed thing. If you ever get slowed down and want to test the waters id be happy to start a thread about them. I have WAY too many posts on that forum lol. Might as well use one for good! They do take the 'vendor' rules very seriously.

In regards to the new products; I have a TEQ badge for a Tundra, Tacoma, and early 80's pick up. I also have a few hard to find plastic pieces for the FJ40 including knobs and door/floor plugs. I will also be launching a line of cup holders for the gen 1, 2, and 3 4runners. They all had cup holder issues. The 4runner cup holders will probably be released this summer when I will have the time to really focus on them.

I had a couple folks ask about the black cup holders (in pics below). Apparently the gray inserts look WAY too light. After looking at the pics closer I realized that my camera made the entire picture too bright to balance out the black of the cupholder. In real life the gray is much darker and very close to the factory gray. I will take some natural lighting pics this weekend to get a better represenation of the dark gray. Sorry for the bad pics.

Last night I trimmed the hook off with a jigsaw, and smoothed the cut with a belt sander. Applied LOTS of double sided tape (another layer on top of what is pictured as it didn't fit tight enough for the single layer of tape to make contact), and got this installed. I think it looks great, it's seems to be on there pretty good, but I'll be putting only containers with lids in there until I trust the double sided tape will hold, lol. Thanks for the great product!

I am definitely interested on how this works out for you. There are folks that have used the hook only, hook and adhesive, adhesive and screws with no hook, but your the first to use the adhesive ONLY for attachment. It's definitely very strong but you will do some real world testing on exactly how strong. One option would be to add screws to the top piece you left. There is already screws going into the top of the console for the factory hinge so your probably safe to add a couple more up there pointing down. There seems to be enough lip on the back of your console behind the hinge to get a couple screws on there. I'm really glad you are doing this. I don't have that console to test on so your helping me out big time with your efforts. If anyone in Socal has this console and would let me use it for a couple days (highly doubtful) then I will make a rear double that is specific to that console.

Is there anything wrong with having 10 printers?
Take that as a joke.

It's getting insane. I have them in the kitchen, office, garage, and even in my office at work. I even had one in our daughters nursery for a while. Don't worry guys, she hasn't been born yet. I just don't have any more room to stuff these printers. I may need to rent out some small little space just to keep all of my machines. My neighbor has a huge 3,000 sqft garage with almost nothing in it. I may need to work something out with him. He had big plans a while back for an RV, boat, and sports car; then the economy tanked and he is left with a big empty building.

Print yourself a big enough office to house those printers. :)

See now your thinking. I just need a printer the size of my garage. Brilliant!!!

Set up the printers in your neighbors garage with a wifi range extender. Print from home and go pick up the product later. Install wifi camera to keep an eye on them.

that is funny that you say that. I have been wanting to monitor my prints at home when I am at work. A few 3d printer guys out there have used baby monitors to send HD video to their phones. I have been considering doing that. I found an HD baby monitor that's compatible with my phone for $60 on Amazon. I might have to pick up a few of those. the issue with not being able to watch your print is that if the print fails 2 hours into a 21 hour print and you're not around to watch it, it literally bakes the plastic into the nozzle. Turns it into this black charcoal material that is almost impossible to remove. I have to take apart the entire extruder assembly and clean it out which days hours of time. I really need to be able to keep an eye on my prints so that if one does fail I can call home and have my wife turn the machine off.

I use the HD web cam made by Belkin to watch a vacant family members house. I got it at target and works really good. Was $100 I think.
