I got round cup holders for my 80

My gray matches great.

Just got the insert for tall narrow cups. Works as described!!!

And there's the problem with the gray. It matches great on one 80 and horribly clashes on another. It bugs me to no end to not be able to address that color issue. I still think I am going to switch the black and gray so the cup holder body is black and the inserts are gray. That way the gray is never directly up against the factory platic gray. In that situation, close IS good enough.

Black or maybe a dark gray that has more black than blue in it. Regardless, my double rear rocks.

Is it possible to get a single front without the pen holder? I like the idea but don't need a pen/pencil holder.

I can remove the pen holder. That is just a simple click of a button in CAD to delete that feature. That is one of the few mods to my design that would take very little time. If that is what you want, then just order one and atttach a message that you want it without the pen holder.

So I have had a few requests for the dark brown color for my cup holders. It wasn't until last week that I even learned that some of the early 80's had a dark brown. I have tried 3 types of paint with no luck. The dark brown that came on the early 80's is a REALLY dark blackish brown. Most over the counter spray paints have a more redish brick tint to it or are more milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate. I am heading to another hardware store today to grab one more can of brown. If that doesn't work then I will be going in a different direction with the brown. I did order 3 spools from 3 different vendors that sell a dark brown. 2 were not even close but the 3rd (was delivered yesterday) is pretty close. I am running a print right now with it. If this filament is close then I will probably print the cup holders in black and do the inserts in dark brown, so that way if they are close it will look perfect. Close doesn't cut it when the two colors are touching.

I may have missed it but what is the height of the product? Or better yet, how much clearance from the bottom of console to bottom of holder. I have an outlet there. May not be a problem if that tissue holder has an open back but may have to order one without that option.

Where did you get the metal holder on the side? Where the child's hand is resting.
The 'metal holder' looks like a Gamviti cup holder.
Looks like just over 6.5" from bottom of console to bottom of cup holder.

You rock. Thanks

that measurement will be dependent upon your placement of the holder. A little further back will increase the distance from the bottom of it to the tranny hump.

Wow. Thanks for taking all those pics and answering the questions.

pm sent, hopefully will hear back from you soon

The dark brown cupholder prototype is in the mail. I should have some pics of it installed on the dark brown center console by the end of the week. The color was a really close match but not exact. In total I went through 7 different paints and 4 different brown filaments until I found the closest match. The color is a match, the only issue is that the texture is slightly more glossy then the factory plastic. If has a satin finish while the factory brown plastic is more matte finish. Hopefully it will not be noticeable. I guess the pics will tell the story. Hopefully I will be able to get the factory brown option up on my website soon for the folks with the early model 80 series. I'm still surprised that it took this long before I was even made aware that there is a 3rd interior color option on the center console.

So the dark brown cup holder made it to its new owner and he was able to snap a few pics. I had a little sample piece of plastic I was trying to color match. The brown paint I used was almost an exact color match to the plastic BUT was not a texture match. I didn't think it was noticeable on when comparing the cup holder to the tiny plastic piece but once i now see it installed on the large dark brown center console; the difference is much more visible. I used the rustoluem metalic dark bronze with satin finish. The finish ended up being a tad more glossy then the factory plastic and in the direct sunlight the metalic finish is visible. In my house I didn't have it in direct sunlight so the metalic flake in the paint wasn't showing up. I really thought I found the perfect match. It's still close, but not perfect. I am happy to make these for folks who want that dark brown but I want to be clear from the beginning that it is close but not a match. If you are fine with close then we are good. If you want a perfect match then hold off on ordering. The new owner is going to also look for a better match. I was thinking about a matte finish clear laquer over the brown paint may get rid of that slight shine and metallic look. I have plenty of paint left over so I will try to track down some matte finish clear laquer. Here's a few pics of what I have.

I'd be interested in a black model with gray inserts for sure. I think it would match coordinate well with the gray interior in my '93.

Well the good news with that is that I have a pair of gray inserts on my machine right now. I hope to have a black cup holder with gray inserts done by tomorrow eveing. I will get some pics up asap. I found a gray that is a tad lighter and more blueish then the factory gray BUT since the factory gray seems to fade and turn more blueish, I think it is going to be REALLY close to the faded color. The paint i use is closer to the original color but clashes with the center consoles that are very faded. Even if the inserts are not an exact match, the inserts will never be in contact with the center console so you will never know.

So here is a black cup holder with gray inserts. I just added this option on my website and etsy for all cupholders. I only have pictures posted for the front double since that is all I have made so far. I will update/add pics of my other cupholders in black once I make them. This is for the folks who have the gray center console that is severly faded. The factory gray paint I use IS a match if the console has zero fading BUT if the console has faded it will become ligther and more blueish which makes the factory color actually clash. The black cup holder will keep the two grays away from each other so it will be very difficult to see any clashing of colors. Here's a few pics. I will try to get pics of a rear double in black up later this week. Hopefully somebody will buy one and take pics of it installed and send them my way. I don't have a gray interior so I can't take any pics installed.

I got these a few weeks back. I went with the gray color with the double for behind the center console and just the single for front PS. The seller/maker was really fast and shipped everything with screws and even adhesive strips already attached. I love the design of the inserts. I keep one on my center console without an insert where I always keep a full size nalgene (fits perfectly). I didnt need to screw or tape on the one for the center console. It hangs very securely in place. I wouldn't recommend the double for the front PS. I think it would cover up part of the power/2nd start switch. You can definitely tell its been 3d printed (there are clear lines, and the inserts are especially a little "rough" looking). I've thought of using some fine grit sand paper on the holders. I'm not sure if the seller would recommend doing this.... For the front I got some rubber toolbox liner at sears and cut an insert that goes onto the horizontal inner portion of the center console where the shifter is. This helps minimize any vibrations from the front cup holder. I'll post some pictures. I also made inserts for all the square factory "cup holders", the area where the rectangular felt pad goes, and for inside the top and bottom of my console. If you cut the liner precisely, the rubber inserts don't need an adhesive. I just held them in front of my dash heater vents for for a few minutes to help get them straight (and not rolled).
