After looking for a cruiser for quite a while and having one bought right out from under me, I lucked up and was met by a 96 LX450 with 130k and lockers on a fateful Monday morning at work. The truck was taken on trade during the weekend and after searching through the sales department I found the keys and refused to give them back. Cruiser 1 - Me 0. I immediately started with the usual baseline maintenance(All fluids, brakes, VC gasket, knuckles, phh ect) as well as stripping the interior to clean up after the po's kids, there was candy and soda everywhere.

So fast forward a year and she's wearing a new Ironman 2in lift and a few other goodies including a new stereo system. I installed the lift last weekend along with a set of 35x13.50 Toyo M/T's. Well that didn't last long, I sold the 35's and installed a set of 37x14.50 Toyo's. FINALLY it doesn't look stock anymore!

I plan on installing a 1in body lift if the correct front springs don't give me enough clearance once they arrive in August. The pic is with a friends 4runner on 33's, these things are deceptively large.

Looking good. It is becoming overwhelmingly apparent to me that I NEED 37's.

Thanks guys. I'm thinking about going with 4.88's eventually but it drives really well with stock gears and 37's as long as you don't try to drive it like a race car.

Mine too.

Do you know the mounted height of the Toyo's?

Part of my reasoning for 4.88s was I planned KM2s, which measure about 35.5" on a 17x9 rim.
Be curious to know how the Toyo's "measure up", accurately speaking.

looks killer.. Like the green color

Looks like 36 1/8 ~ 36 1/4 on 10" wides and 30 psi.

Thanks. Not sure how the wheel width affected the mounted height, but that's truer to size than most BFGs.

What's the rationale behind the 4.88s as opposed to 5.29s, out of curiosity?

Wider rims= shorter tires. My reason for saying 4.88's is that it drives really well with stock gears so I'm thinking 5.29's might be too much gear for me.

Haha. Got that, just wasn't sure how much, in actual dimension. Irrelevant really.

I've 4.88s sitting in the garage, based on calculators showing a near OEM RPM range with 35s (BFG 37" KM2s are 35.5"). Hoping I've not made a mistake. Thanks for the reply.

Dude my truck handled 35's like they were stock. I understand that different people have different standards and expectations but I was completely underwhelmed with the effect that 35's had, as was my wife, she said it looked and rode stock.

I'm thinking 37's are my next size tire, looks great with the low lift.

Any rubbing issues yet?

Yeah man, I've got a little rubbing. Nothing a hammer and cutoff wheel wouldn't take care of.
