Yes. :D

Fred Holmes

I haven't looked for any alternatives but at one time they told me that they are the only ones "around here" that do the 2 stage injectors properly.

Adam big thanks valuable info for us ...

I have dealt with Fred Holmes for years, they do a lot of marine and HD engine fuel system work. They are really knowlegeable and carry a huge stock of parts. Excellent to deal with!!!

if you have a chance .. can you ask for the price to rebuild the 2 stages 1HD-T injectors .. I need to add the price of the injector or core since I'm too far to wait send 'em and back ..

Both are great engines, but a factory turbo will always give a longer life(thats why they made them).
You gonna need to make sure it has no BEB problems which afflicted these engine blocks right up until 06(although it wasn't as bad as the early 90s)
High mileage on either of these engines may require a fuel pump rebuild,,many of them do need one before 300000klms.
If the pump has fuel seepage,it will need dismantling anyway
The engines will go 400000 klms+ if they have been looked after.
They should start cold within seconds and run smooth with just a flash of smoke.
Ask whether they are 12v or 24v. The12v is gonna be easier to work with.

Again just to be sure Roscoe is referring to the 1HD-T.

so in the process of adding a turbo to the HZ what is required? just a different manifold or should i be changing pistons and a bunch of other bits?

These engines are actually kissing cousins. You just need a turbo, either DIY probably CT-26, like my project, or a kit from AXT etc. You can use the short side exhaust manifold from the 1HD-T on the 1HZ, bolt it on. You can search under turbo 1HZ and see various write-ups for details. No need to be changing pistons etc.

the 1hz and 1hd are very similar engines, difference is pistons and direct injection meaning no glow plugs, both easy to work on and parts are readily available

the later 1hdft is the 24 valve and i valued at the best turbo motor toyota made and is a well sort after engine, again factory turbo and direct injection and best of all no computer, (i had the privilidge of driving one transplanted into a 75x when i was over in australia and wow they haul)

the latest 1hdfte is in the aus 100x and 79x they are the same as the 1hdfte only they have a computer to run the pump

all the above engines are super reliable and give great life expectancy, key to it is keep the services up to them

to transplant into a vehicle relativly simple as you only need power to the fule cut out solenoid on the injector pump, sounds to easy, well it is

the gearbox h55f came out behind the 1hz and if used in the 1hz will give years of service, normally a bearing kit at about 150 miles will keep it going, from past enquires a h55f will not last behind a turbo motor as the bearings can not handle the torque
best gearbox for this is the h150/h150 which came out in the aus 80x, 79x and the 100x
built to take a turbo and very strong, only draw card is they are longer than a h55f

you can put a h55f behind any of the above engines with a 1hz flywheel and heavy duty clutch

but a h151 will need the hd flywheel and factory clutch

if you nedd any more info let me no happy to help

thanks for the info guys. does any one have an idea about import of a 1hd-ft? cost/ availbility?

They only made them for 3-4 years, then they went to the 1HD FTE. A lot of owners who transplant the 1HD FTE into another vehicle use the 1HD FT fuel pump to avoid the eletronics.
But I imagine the 1HD FT fuel pumps dont grow on trees.

You said at the beginning of the post you had a line on a 1HZ or a 1HD T. Why not go with the 1HD T.?
As long as the BEBs are checked every 100000klms you will not have many problems.
The 1HZ will chew BEBs as often as a 1HD T does if you turbo it(same bottom end)

direct injection = sensitive throttle

either or works for me. Lowenbrau has a HDT forsale so contact him, he is in Canada.
