And, I got word yesterday from Cruiserparts that my dash has finally arrived from Japan, 1.5 years after ordering it. Talk about being patient.

Was it shipped via "raft"?:)
The bed looks great by the way.

I am not sure what took it so long other than I was lead to believe that it was a hard part to get. That or the company that I ordered it from finally realized that I wasn't going to let up pressuring them to get me my part. I have voiced my displeasure with this company as have many others on this site and once I get the dash from them they will never get any of my business again, even though they are a local Cruiser vendor.

I had a similar experience when dealing with "that company." I ordered a set of mud flaps for my HJ45 and was told that they were in stock and would be shipped in short order. After about 3 weeks, I called to check on the order only to be told that they were on back order from the vendor and the delay could be up to a month. I canceled the order at that time. Now here is the good part....about 3 months later the mud flaps show up in my driveway and I discover my credit card had been charged without my authorization. ( The HJ45 had been sold by that time:)) It goes without saying that I will not be doing any future business with them.:o

Haven't heard much good about the above vendor....don't know why they couldn't have just ordered your parts from a us dealership.

In the future use toyodiy to get the part # yourself and then look the part # up on 1sttoyotaparts.com to check price and availability.

US dealerships cannot get interior 7x series parts. They are not in any catalog we have access to at all. I wish we did. Trust me. I spend hours and hours every week cross referencing and trying to procure parts for non-US vehicle customers. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I fail.

.....for those of us who are on the "receiving end" of your efforts....
Thanks:)

but if we give you the part # you can order them and have them in a week or two right? that is where toyodiy.com comes in

I inquired about the metal dash from my local to me east coast dealer...here is what was available The 55301-60A40-E0 and 55311-60D10-E0 are available. They were special order but they are available. Same with a few other interior parts I need.

I really do not want to disagree with folks here on Ih8mud...However I would have to say that some part are available from Toyota USA because they were sold in Canada. And for those that are not available from USA Toyota they are still available in the US because I SELL THEM. I do spend a great deal of time and effort and try to bring in the part folks want. I can tell you that I have sold 4 7x series dashes in the last 2 years to people looking form them, some used some new. You have to keep in mind that they made the same dash up until 2009, so part our out there and still available.

Cheers,

Michael

Not necessarily. There is a lot more going on with trying to get non-US parts than it seems.

There are multiple phone calls to analysts, VIN information, waiting, faxes, emails, more VIN info., etc. Getting one non-US part sometimes takes days.

I will agree with Michael...he is a phenomenal source for non-US parts.

hence why i added his name and company to my "hard to find parts" thread in this forum.
Michael is a good guy to deal with ... BTW, how is my snorkel order coming along?

Guess what I finally picked up today? Yup, a brand new 75 series dash. Does anyone know why Toyota used a semi flat paint on this?

And why I swear by Toyota. 200,000 miles on my 1998 Rav4. And to think Landcruisers are even more reliable.

I guess I assumed the dash would have come painted. Primer makes sense now that you mention it Wayne. So, if I have to paint it I'm wondering how it would look painted white to match the rest of the interior? Opinions???

common sense says ...

white to match the same as factory is .

sorry, just being a smart ass tonight.

Aircraft usually go with flat paints ( usually black ) to reduce glare.
This theory might make "white" a bad choice unless it is flat or satin.

This is just the metal part of the dash. I did also get, in another shipment, all the other small pieces like the glove box door, the top dash pad, instrument surround, heater vents, defrost ducting, etc...

Color wise, I guess I just assumed that a lot of the 70 series came with gray interior and that the dash was painted the color that I received as it would have come from the factory to match the interior. Makes sense that it is primer. Do other 70 series come with this part of the dash color matched to the rest of the truck body? Red, White, Silver, etc....

Granted this Cruiser is 27 years old and may not reflect modern standards however 2 tone ( not necessarily these two colors ) seem to be the norm.

Yeah, I'm leaning towards the metal dash section painted white with all the other plastic bits contrasting in gray, but then again maybe that would be too much white in the cabin??? I love how simple these dashes are compared to my donor 80 series, but then again they are completely different styles of trucks.
