I've used Dupont Molykote 33 which is a lithium based silicone grease and works well. Or maybe Toyota's "Body Grease" which is a PTFE grease but is very expensive, same as YM-103 Dupont grease, also expensive.

Dupont Molykote 33 Medium:

Toyota's Body Grease:

I would avoid any petroleum based grease or lube (including WD40) as those can damage plastic bits.

Do you know what grease Toyota uses for metal to metal parts like the regulator and other stuff like that?

Just following this post. Have a 1999 I bought 2 years ago, it's my daily and I've never been able to cycle the sunroof open. I can hear the motor when I push the tilt or open buttons and I hear something moving, but it seems stuck closed and will not open. Last year I had the drain holes unplugged as they were leaking on the floorboard (paid a local shop with sunroof experience to do it at the time because I wasn't confident enough to get too far into it). Since I've found this post, it seems I may have some luck with some advice. From reading this post so far, and knowing that one (or more) or the drain holes were plugged for some period of time, I'm suspecting corrosion somewhere.

My questions are: #1 Where should I be trying to "push" on the glass while clicking the buttons to try and get it to move, and how "rough" can I get with it? Don't want to inadvertently damage something. and #2: Where and how much should I be lubricating?

My apologies if these questions have been asked before, if so, maybe you can just point me towards to correct thread. Thanks!

Greg, the 100 series forum has the answers you want. Your sunroof doesn't work because the cables are gummed up. You need to remove the sunroof, pull the cables out, clean them and reinstall everything.

There are several write-ups on how to do this. Here's one. Google the problem and you'll find many more.

You should replace your sunroof seal while you have the glass out. Having a 100, you're lucky you have this option. 80 series owners don't.
