Well I just did it like that because that was how BMW's are lol no real benefit, just simplicity of wiring

Plus I heard that the CCFL will outlast the HID and halogen as long as they dont flash

Would they flash or flicker when the vehicle is started?

Ok, sweet. was just curious because the headlights and radio turn off when the ignition is turned and the interior lights flicker.

Ok, finally got everything finished. Thanks LJ for the great idea where to bolt the ballasts. they should get plenty of airflow to keep them cool. the solenoids and everything are hooked up. with the brights on... HO.LEE.CRAP. I'm so dang pumped

Almost OE replacement. Still need to run a wiring harness and a few adapters but it should be running Sunday night. Assuming I can get the adapters.

...and ballast mounting pics.

Ask and you shall receive:D

pic 1: passenger side
pic 2: driver side

Even though they mount using the same bolts, they are still mounted in a different manner depending on the lines that are in that area. You'll find out what I am talking about.

I did the same thing except bent mine up so it was easier to route the wires.

Since you're running wire, run an extra "trigger" wire for the relay up front to a switch on the dash. It's for the "I won't ever have anyone ride my ass twice" feature... :D

That is what I plan. Nothing like tailgating someone on the interstate and then the reverse lights go on

Here is where I mounted my ballasts. I did not want them that low. The driver side ballast is just in front of the battery and the passenger is on the exact same bolt on the other side. I also had to enlarge the hole on the bracket to fit the bolt. This mounting keeps the wiring in the engine compartment and out of the way.
