45 project. Heard S10 tank has worked before. Got one, but seems long. Only way seems to be to tilt it.
If the fuel pickup is in the low end, and vent and inlet on hi end, would it be okay?
Not gonna use these springs.
Will use Alcan 4" sua or go soa
Thanks

Rotate the tank 90 deg and pot behind the shock cross member.

Was hoping to retain that area for spare.
Trying to free up space under seat also.

Checked, 3" too long to go crossways in back.

Your photos above makes it look like you'd have about 1/3rd. tank of gas when the sending unit showed empty ??. Can the front end of that tank be mounted up closer to the floorboard for more of a level mount??.

Where the front of the tank is puts it almost touching the rear of the cab.
Can probably raise it a inch.
As the frame rises rearward there is room for the fat part of the tank, but if i don't tilt it, seems real close to the axle.
Thanks for input.

The spectra tank looks interesting.
Will search for a installed pic now
How many gallons?

I believe it is 22 gallons, just like the OEM Tank. I have bought it and have the two tanks sitting next to each other on the work bench. They are identical. I have not installed it yet. I did come across a thread on here with a guy who had installed one 5 years ago. I reached out to him and he said he has had no issues.

why not use a 79-83 40 series tank?

I happen to know where a few are located.

Could. But then would have spare tire in the bed.

the later 40 tank goes where your pic shows the s10 tank. in between the shock tube and transfer case. it's also about 22 gallons.

Wow. Thought it was in rear.
U have one?

Found pic of schematic only. Looks like I would need the hangers.
Would you have those too Paul?

Is part #18 just a rock shield or does it support weight?

The spectra is not expensive but surely doesn't have the straps or bracket.

Thanks for the suggestions

Hoping to get gas tank figured out before exhaust and body install.

Straps are not available. I'm going to attempt to make my own. 18 is the skid plate.

Picz34, please post pics of your install.
I guess the hangers will hold the tank against an upper brace I would need to make.

the tank goes up against the bottom of the 40 tub,
I'm thinking the later 45 had a similar setup, never seen one tho, the tank sits under the passenger seat with the body change but with the added length of the 45 frame and wheelbase it should fit behind the cab. I can do some measuring one of these days.
