How is the market on 2021 LC 200 60k miles?

I did not feel cramped in the GX550 at Overland Mtn last year. Seemed fine. The wide consoles give a lot of room to the right.

Doug being a big guy sitting in the front and rear of the 200 and 250 shows the difference. Now you may not need or value the extra space, but you do sit great both front and rear in the 200 with an excellent view outside from both rows.

200 front and back with plenty of space for Doug in the front (seat back)

And good space without unhappy face in the back...

And back small in comparison

I personally find the display cheap looking between display and dash surroundings. Almost like a poorly fitted aftermarket piece. Maybe OK in real. Will have to look at it in the future, when GX550's are more readily available and dealers have landed back on earth with two feet... Keeping my 200 though. This would possible be to replace my 535d, which I love itself for now and I will keep for as long as it goes.

What you mean with aftermarket support? And reaching LR level...? Or is it meant sinical. I am lost.
The hype and the publicity push of Lexus for the GX550 is quite real. Toyota/Lexus never pushed the LC200 platform in the off-road department. No one knew what it was. Most Americans think that it was a Highlander. GX550 is being actively push by Toyota/Lexus as an adventure vehicle. This much hype and publicity will bring aftermarket support that will be far more vast than LC200. Basically Lexus is aiming directly at those who my LR Defenders and G-wagens.

Definitely, the LC200 will be roomier.

But are we gonna complain about cheap displays?! It has a big infotainment center that will house crisp displays and resolution AND the camera resolution to back it up!! Our LC200 cameras suck. Navigation from 1980s in our LC200 vs wireless Apple CarPlay in GX.

You call that aftermarket support...? I am thinking here aftermarket parts and mods which are vast for the 200 series States side and in Australia, South Africa and Middle East. With international shipping just about everything is reasonable and accessible. I can think of few vehicles with more good options and choices than the 100 and 200 series. Especially the 200 at its peak while expect to stay there for years to come. Maybe the Jeep Wrangler tops it, not many other vehicles aftermarket support wise though.

You sit in the front of the dash all the time right? This is all taste, but I like the dials in my 200 and even more the 2014 535d. The ipads sticking out of the dash do not excite me. I use them at home enough... All about taste, i know. I just think the 250 dash looks cheap. You think the LC200 cameras are basic. I agree, but I see all I need on them.

Seriously?! I will have what you're smoking......

LC200 support in the States suck. Everything else tops the LC200 in aftermarket support!! Tacoma, Wranglers, Chevy, Ford, Land Rover, 4runners, etc. all have better aftermarket support than LC200!!

Ask anyone knowledgeable on this forum and they will agree with me. LC200 aftermarket support in USA is almost non-existent compared to the popular off-road brands/vehicles.

I see your point. I do not use local shops to do the installs. So I just look at parts and self install. As such i look globally and tons is available. But it all depends how you do things and therefore what you need and perceive. I would expect that GX550 and Prado 250 will never get to numbers where many US shops will turn their heads and see a market. The run of the mill US manufactured you see on every street is then the best way to go.

PS I do not smoke at all nor do I drink more than one or two glasses of beer per week so I am wondering why you get so excited...

Ah, yes. Thanks for the reminder. I will definitely miss the split tailgate!

As for the discussion on aftermarket accessories, I see this as more of a win on the Lexus side of the house. There is almost nothing in the US made for the LX570. We finally got some sliders and bumpers a few years back, but it’s meager. Contrast that with the GX550, which has ARB and many others already producing accessories before the thing is even released for sale. The even bigger win is Lexus partnering with these companies to offer the accessories from the dealership where they can be financed and covered by the Lexus warranty. That means I don’t have to choose between risking voiding the warranty or waiting four years to start hanging goodies.

If my 200 gets totaled today. No way I would
Buy another one, to me 200’s are just too old, outdated, and the used ones are way overpriced. I’m also starting to get concerned with parts support in the near future for things that regularly fail (like the cowel).

Just look at how many threads have been on here recently in the lines of “just bought a 10-15 year old 200 and ….. failed and it was ….. thousands to fix.

If my 200 dies I’ll see how my Silverado EV reservation plays out or strongly consider a GX550. Or possibly go back to a g wagon, the new EV.

Today If I was buying some old LC just to have an LC it would be an 80.

yup.

Name me a few things where LC200 is better than GX550...maybe besides nameplate? I think that maybe our interior is actually roomier...that's about it.

A consumer who is buying a $60k late model USED LC 200........can borrow $15-20k more and get a brand new Lexus GX550 with longer warranty.

This is what I thought as well but its going to be a couple years before someone can get a reasonably priced GX550. And you have to get the overtrail to get KDSS and stuff.

Im sure there is a length list of reservations for any overtrails.

I personally was very interested in the 550, and may still be, but I couldnt wait until 2025+ to get one.

Food for thought, the gx550 is really impressive (and kind of shows up the lx600 honestly), I suspect used lx570 prices will take a hit before lc200’s

BTW in that video…LX570 does NOT have 11” of ground clearance. It still has 8.9 regardless of height.

Partially true. Yes the rear diff is the limiting factor, but 8.9" is the factory claim with 285/50 R20 tires (~31.2") but mine was 8.6" measured. Wearing LT275/70R18 (33.2') BFGs I have about 9.75". This guy is running 285/75 R17, so he might be squeaking out 10" to the rear diff and 12.5" in the front center on high.

It remains to be seen, but the GX550 Overtrail coming stock with 33s makes me hopeful it will have more room than the LX/LC for larger tires. Having mpg, tow capacity, acceleration, etc also factory spec'd with 33s is also nice. Upsizing to 33" LTs on my 2013 LX cost me 10-15% performance penalty across the board without regearing.
