Moving overseas and must sell my rig. It has always lived in snow-free Houston. I detect no rust on it, nor does my mechanic. See for yourself in undercarriage photos.
The usual maintenance has been performed on the rig. Notable most recently driver’s-side exterior handle replaced with new in September 2024 and new distributor installed in July 2024. The owner’s manual and related documentation are original.
Current issues include the fact that my rescue Cairn Terrier took bites out of the dashboard and door panels when he felt fearful. See interior photos. The windshield sprayer needs repair. The motors powering automatic window openers will probably need replacing soon. Dings and dents in rear bumper and elsewhere, as shown in photos. Leather on front seats needs replacing (new Cabela’s covers work till then). Automatic feature of door locks works only on driver’s side. Radio works, but most folks will want to replace stereo system. One roof-rack cross bar needs reattaching.
If you are familiar with the 80 series, that’s all there is to say. If not, take it from hemmings.com, which wrote: “The FJ80/FZJ80 Land Cruisers today are widely regarded as the highwater mark in the model’s lineage. That sweet spot that blends modern injection, an overdrive transmission, plenty of creature comforts, and the simplicity and ease-of-modifying for backcountry and exploration that only a solid-axle, body-on-frame design can deliver.”
