Nick, don't think it would look goofy, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Original thought was heat escape, not Ram air

Wonder . . . . . . Use the scoop forward as an input and the Pontiac Grand Prix events on the side ofg the hood hmmmmm

I could also end up with that hood scoop sitting in my garage in another 4 years

Great point about beauty. I guess that's why some folks like Jeeps and why my wife married me.:)

That's the effect I'm hoping for withe the combo. I figure the clutch fan forces air through the engine compartment and in the factory configuration, it goes out through the bottom of the bay. With my setup some goes out through the top (where the highest concentration of hot air would be). With the addition of the scoop, I'll hopefully just be moving more air and allowing less heating of the engine bay. The IC, if it works out will lower intake temps.

Those parts on the floor are inventory for the never complete punchlist...

Very low tech but when I first put mine on (rear facing) I stuck some thin strips of fabric above the intake. At low speed they were being blown out but above about 15mph they were being sucked in.

Interesting. With the clutch fan, I woulda thought it would be blowing out at any speed, but I wonder if you are more or less creating a vacuum effect with the speed. Dunno:meh:

this is mine, toy hdj80+intercooler. Hood scoop cames from ISUZU TROOPER 2.8 TD.

After looking high & low for this hood scoop, I finally figured out the exact details. It came off of a 1988 Isuzu Trooper/Bighorn 2.8 TD. They're available used down under (Australia & New Zealand, where these Isuzus are pretty popular), and there's a guy here on the West Coast who's replicating them for a pretty darn good price too, if anyone's interested.

if anyone's interested.

I'm interested .. how much .? how to contact .. or you made the contact ..

Have a pic of the final product and measurements ?

You know I never installed the hood scoop I bought, maybe I should sell it :D

I have installed a hood scoop on my truck and it seem to be working ok. I plan on getting one of those hand held wind speed tester and strapping it to my IC (top mounted) to see what air flow i getting at certain speeds. I will post pics as soon as i can.

My scoop, airing my intercooler. It was just a fake scoop when i got it but then i cut the opening and
reinforced it with 3 mm flat bar total size is 620 mm x 620 mm that puts the intake with in the high pressure zone (hopefully)

Good looking option.. more details Where do you get this one ( looks like mustang one like I have in Tencha ) and more details about your Intercooler setup .. pics .?

I'm that guy that reproduces the Trooper hood scoops..Heres a couple pics and of course they are on Troopers..lol They actually do look good on the Toyotas!
These are made off of an original. They are professionally made and have 9 tee nuts for mounting and the mesh installed in the mouth. They can be finished in grey, white or black primer coat..they are ready for paint when you receive it. They take about 10 days to produce. These are nice and sturdy fiberglass..not flimsy thin JC Whitney junk..The scoop on the tan Trooper is just laying on the hood..it is not installed yet.
