Hi Spudman,

You where thinking about welding a extension to the frame for your winch. Why don't you cut out the frame extensions of the wrecked 60 series with the ARB bullbar and just mount it on your frame,if they can be reused, that is?

Hey Sved

I was gonna cut the ends off the one in my driveway, but it seems that some knob head has welded the bullbar to the chassis rails, they do that a lot up here.

So I'm waiting for my new generator to arrive so I can go out and cut the ends off one of the wrecks around here. :D

I think you misunderstand me,i was talking about the parts which are integrated in the arb bar.those that slide over the existing frame.then you could go from there, and construct a wichcradle.

Hey Stockhorse

Couple of posts ago I was discussing with Nex how to put a winch on with an alloy bar, I was going to cut the ends off a chassis from a wreck and extend my chassis so I could fit a craddle inside the chassis.

Sved

Yeah I understood what you meant, that ARB winch bar I found is knackered it's all bent and twisted, I have searched here hi and low and I can't find find a decent steel bar anywhere, with or without a winch hole

Regards

Spudman

Have you tried looking for OEM PTO winch frame extensions.?

Haven't seen one of them around here yet, but I'll keep searching and hopefully something will pop up :)

I have stopped my winch in front idea, just get one clean inside and an extra 12v battery and find a tree/ground anchor and move slow form there, I don't want to go forward when stuck but backwards, also to lazy to mount it :meh: If you get the free ARB you might be able to make a nice thing out of it?

Can you make pictures of these wrecks ? I would love to see those abandoned 60's
20 years ago there was an old DAF truck here but lately everything has been cleaned up; environment reason but also shows that every inch over here is governed, controlled, checked and double-checked.

Hey HJ60, you are so right, when you think about, if you drive somewhere and get stuck, why would you want to pull yourself through more crap and get stuck further, might think about a winch on the rear as well:D

Next time I go out looking for a particular part I'll take some pics of all the 60 wrecks around here, you'll be surprised:crybaby:

With that ARB bullbar unfortunately the bottom section is all dented and the tubes are also bent, I seriously thought about cutting off the round tubing and making a custom bar, but this is just too far gone.

Something else will pop up

Oh yes, pictures of wrecked 6# series are like candy for my eyes.Start the show:popcorn:

:D I found an ideal winch, tows you around Australia and back; Deep Tow Traction Winch System
30000lbs
200HP

But I want a small type 77803 winch, not the 4x4 everybody has, just a silly 1600kg/ 3500 pounds thing:

This are pictures I made of my hj, enough to keep me from adding a winch, rivets: o nooo

Spudman, quick question. I've spend a while looking online now, is the high-top roof of a 60 series flat or coregated like the low roof of the 60's?

I'm working on a project, and cant find any picture showing either. I know it's smooth around the sun roof area, but what does the rest look like. :D:D

Thanks
Cody

We also have the high roofs in sweden(had 2 myself) and they are smooth all the way.Not corrugated.

HJ60

Now that's a winch, I've seen someone's signature on here, says the 12HT will pull the Queen Mary, now with one of those it certainly would :)

Sved

Thanks for answering Cody's question, I didn't have a clue

First thing today, was to finish sanding the drivers door and paint it, I think it turned out quite well

Still having a bit of trouble with the passenger door, so I'll have another look at that tomorrow. :bang:

I then started putting the sound deadener in the doors

It was a little bit figitity but I got there in the end.

Then I cut out the power window switches in my door skins and put everything back in the doors

Now when I close the doors it feels like a solid door and no tinny noise

Also put the kick panels in.

Still no suspension parts :bang: bloody Australia Post, slower than a wet weekend

My Rancho 5000 shockies arrived today :bounce:

Still waiting for some bushes and extended front shackles.

I decided to start fitting my rear suspension as I have enough bushes in good condition to do the rears.

So connected everything up loosely, I think the sway bar and brake lines will be ok

So fitted my new wheels to the rear, I'll wait till I get the spacers before I drive it.

Very happy with the distance between the tire and the guard, considering these are 16 inch rims and 285 tyres

Sitting flat on the ground, brake line has plenty of flex

I had to cut the end of the exhaust off to fit the spring

Everything looks in order

Only problem now is it looks like a red necks truck being high at the back and low at the front

Long day

These new rims are strange in what sort of wheel nuts they take

These are the current wheel nuts I have

35e0c2d4c3261c776c0a284e3b1127c9_zps20f77d35.jpg

They don't stick out far enough to do up tightly, so I'm going to have to try and source some longer ended wheel nuts :bang:

I just went outside to start the truck up, keep the battery at optimum.

So I decided to close all the windows and doors and sit in it, it is definitely a lot quieter, mind you I still have 1 door to go and the 2 side panels and lower tail gate.

So it's definitely worth getting the sound deadener :)
