gages and seat belts

I have not posted in this thread for a while.
In the mean time the turbo gages have been added, a nice radio, and an inclinometer.
I also added the rear bench from a 62, to gain head rests, and rear shoulder belts. These were put in by enlarging the existing hole, bolting them up, and the making new wooden side covers (inspired by Wayne's diamond plate covers). The covers are heat and sound shielded on the inside, and have attachment points that go around the metal pillars inside.
thanks

Normally i'm not a fan of wood at all but that does look nice Jan. Very clean and probably more functional.

Gauge pod looks good too and its full :D

all you need is the non usa rear slider protector bar ;)

Jan,

Looks Great,

I like the wood replacements. I see you got your rear seat belts in as well. Very nice.

Cheers,

Michael

Thanks Michael. Putting them in was easier than I thought.
You'll see it in person tomorror :)

Freaking Heavy I can tell you that  But seriously, I am not sure of the wieght the F55F is slightly heavier than the 4 speed, and the 2H is probably 1/3 to 1/2 again the wieght of a 2F gasser. Does that help.

Cheers,

Michael

Hi Michael, I'm going to buy an engine hoist and want to make sure I purchase one with enough capacity to handle both the engine and tranny.

Thanks

Hey Rab,

We used a 2 ton shop crane with a 8 ton ram, it worked fine, I had bent the extendable boom lifing the front end of a BJ70 before, but it was fine with the 2H and drivetrain. I can tell you it is a one of the cheaper ones, so if you get a good quality one the 2 ton is fine (even the cheap one is fine). Here is the link to Harbor Feight where I got mine about 4 years ago:

actually the 2H is about the same as the 2F.

the H55F is heavier

with all 3 peices still bolted together and the accessories still attached you will be borderline 1000 lbs...

i LOVE my steel I/Beam for pulling motors...

cheers

So the running joke between crushers and tlcruiserman is one of shop layout and design. On the one hand you have Crushers (we will call it the Northern solution) and on the other hand you have Tlcruiserman( we will call it the southern solution).

So the northern solution has I-Bean block and tackle (ok probably chain hoist) with work pit in the ground, important factors are are good heat in the winter and mouse or two for company.

On the Souther solution you have engine hosts, plain old jack stands and long frame floor jack (soon to be lift) important factors are huge fan to keep the temp down in summer, and a few spiders or goffers for company.

Both are well suited for there enviornments but would not work well in the others. Like a pit in the southern solution, could be a death trap if a tremmor hits, or a large industrial fan would not work well in the winter unless it was hooks to a gas heater :D

Ok, that was my only attempt today a humor

Cheers,

Michael

If we had a pit in your shop it would probably be 140 in there in summer, and fill up with sweat in half a day...:D

Your tie rod ends

Hi Jan / Michael,
I noticed you did your TRE's. Are those standard FJ/BJ/HJ TRE's or are they particular to the HJ? I'm getting conflicting stories about TRE compatability in the 60 series.

Thanks,
Rab
