When that new engine slides in it feels like your launching a ship. You want to scream and shout but your too F%^$# tired:D
If you can get those chain slings just right it becomes real easy

Neat and well thought out work that you will get long term pleasure out of.
Your gearbox mechanic dont like his photo being taken:D

I'm guessing your installing the turbo in the truck?

Keep up the pics.. It looks great!

Yes, it will get a turbo from turbo glide. The unit looks very nice, it is a garrett turbo, a solid manifold, and very sturdy lines. It has a wastegate integrated, and the valves for watercooling. Oil will come from the banjo fitting of the alternator/vacuum pump supply, and the oil dump will go into the sideplates between the lifters.
We will get the truck to run before we put the turbo on, to make potential trouble shooting easier.
cheers,
Jan

Wow looks really nice!!! I dig the high tops! Would love to have one one day. Does your have the sunroof? Awesome history on it as well. You going to spray the new metal with anything? Keep us posted with more pics and info!!!

i never thought of dumping the oil into the side plate. Any advantages or disadvantages as opposed to dumping into the pan?

The only advantage I can think of is that welding something into the side plate will never interfere with taking the pan off. but my experience is zero, so maybe others can give their opinion.

It does not have a sun roof.
The new metal has all been coated with POR-silver, so it still looks like plain metal.
eventually the whole truck will be painted, blue, with maybe a white roof for heat protection. But only on the outside, so cosmetically it will not be perfect :)

As Jan Mentioned you do not have to worry if you need to tak the pan off. It gives a pretty good, short path back into the block, I think it should work very well. When I saw it I thought hey that is cool why did I not do that on my 3B, then after looking at it I realized why they will not work on the 3B, the lifter panel is too high on the block and is very hard to get at with the manifold installed.

They recommend the rear panel for the return and give you the steel tube to weld into the cover, seem pretty straight forword.

Michael
