I got tired of the cleaning, and wanted to do something fun so I decided to take out the rear windows and install my YotaTeq Gullwings. It did not take long for me to realize I was going to need parts to complete the install. The frame around the drivers window had a tiny spot of rust which I cleaned up and spray painted, the passengers side was perfect with no rust. I had purchased new window gaskets but did not purchase the window runs. They were completely rotted on both sides. Also the frame on the passengers side was rotting away as well. I was able to order the window runs, but the frame is NLA. @TheBussman had a full clean passengers side window assembly, so hopefully in the next week to 10 days I will be able to get these gullwings installed.

Spent the evening using a carbide scraper and some CLC Gasket Remover to get the top of the block cleaned up and ready for the head to come back from the machine shop. Now that it is clean I can use my precision straight edge to check the top of the block. FINGERS CROSSED!

That's a really clean piston...

The other 5 did not come quite as clean but still happy with the results. I have a concerning spot on the bore on #1 but this is the fist engine I have ever worked on this deep so not sure what I am looking at.. I am trying to clean it up and will post it for opinions. Hoping i don’t have to yank this block.

I don’t see the hatch marks 😔 in the cylinder walls not a good sign.
When I did mine they were very visible.

Not exactly what I wanted to hear. More cleaning and pics to come tomorrow so I can gather better intel from those that know better than me.

I did not feel like getting all greasy tonight. And I was super tired of the hood and firewall insulation crumbing all over the engine bay every time I even slightly bumped the truck. So out it went!

I'm no expert, but I read a lot and have on here for a while.

While the carpet was out for sound deadening, it was time for a good pressure washing! Simple Green > Drill Brush > Rinse > Tide + Dawn > Drill Brush > Rinse > Wet/Dry Vac > Hang Dry

Love the way your getting after it !!

Got the tired and worn out front suspension off. The shocks do not extend on their own anymore. Also, got the steering gear housing out and ready for a rebuild and upgrade to the 105 shaft.

Well I tackled my first knuckle job, or at least the first half (which seems to be the worst part)!

Not sure how but my Harmonic Balancer from Partsouq was able to dodge all the bombs and bullets and make it to Mississippi. Also picked up the head from the machine shop and it looks dang brand new! Now all I need is that new short block assembly to get here!

Spend almost the entire day standing in the engine bay and sitting in the transmission tunnel. There must have been 18 inches of grime and muck, but the fantastic news is not a speck of rust was found anywhere. Also, it only took me 5 days to get this pitman arm off the sector shaft. Tried 3 different pullers, heat, hammers, and finally cut it since I was replacing it the the 105 sector shaft and arm. That has been the worst thing I have dealt with so far. I would rather clean and scrape grime off the frame before I have to remove a stuck pitman arm again!

Perfect time to weld in some gussets & plates for the steering box...

Love your progress, you are inspiring me to get mine done! Not nearly the projects that you have, but still need to finish up before Cruise Moab and a 5k mile round trip in 5 weeks!
