hi lift mount

Here's another one . Saw it on a run out in the Panamint area ( CAlif ) I wish I had got the scoop on it but didn't. The indivual is in the Marines and I think back over in Iraq or else where

Into the side thread of the window hinge with a lockable screw.;)

My husband and I mounted ours on our '73 FJ40 to the roll bar. It fit perfect. I can send you some pics if you like.

Did you mount it to the stock roll bar? If so please post a pic. I tried this but didn't follow through with it because it was too heavy and awkward to get down and didn't fit well. Maybe you did it differently and I'd imagine much better than I.

Either that or it could be that a 73 roll bar is different from a 77 I think...

This is one of the nicer ones I've seen! looks stable, clean, and most importantly when you need it you can get it without removing a lock, and a whole bunch of SAE bolts with nylock washers.

If this thread starts to turn into inspiration to make one as it has for me I'd like to see incorporated somehow instead of bolts and the sort a lever type latch. Maybe a twist or a pull and it can really quickly clamp that thing down with one tie in point with no tools.

I went to post a pic and realized I put 73 FJ40 and meant to put Bronco. If you have a factory roll cage I'm sure it won't fit. It fits great on our Bronco. I will keep up with this post though. I will be mounting one on my 40 and want to figure out something "different" than the windshield mount. Sorry about the confusion. Good luck!

stupid question i know, but where can u buy these mounts for the windsheild hinge?

Kaymar Australia make them..

anyone sell these in the US? I'd like one as well...

last i looked man-a-fre was selling kaymar stuff...you may want to check with them.

Man-a-fre sells them. They were not on the website when I looked last, but I emailed them and and ordered one. $45 I believe and you can get it either driver or passenger side. It didn't come with any hardware to secure the lower section to the running board, so I'm just going to drill a couple of holes through it and bolt it in place. A pain to remove, but I want it to be secure and not rattle around.

Drawbacks to mounting the jack there are : some types of mirrors cannot be mounted on that side with the jack there, door will contact it when fully open, if you flop onto that side, you're jack is pinned.

so besides on the side, the back, and on the bumper, anyone else have any creative ideas for mounting the jacks. had to take my tire carrier out, i have no side boards, and a winch up front...might just have to lay it on it's side behind the back seat and bolt it there somehow... i'd like to run w/o doors and mount mirrors on the windshield so...

There's a guy on Ebay that sels some nice brackets that clamp onto a rollbar that you can mount the jack to. This would work ok if depending on the length of the jack you have. Or behind/between the seats or to the wheel wells in back maybe. Before I got my exterior mount, I used to have mine (48") wrapped up and tied down in the back.

When we were stalking the Rainforest Challence, I spotted the Philippine competitors sporting the high-lift on the rear bumper attached with very fast shackles..

I am considering removing the passenger side windshield hinge pin, drilling it out to 3/8 and building a 1/2" stainless pin that is turned down to 3/8 just where it replaces the hinge pin. That way my hinge pin will be my jack mount also. It will also be the sacrificial part should the jack get hit but I don't see anything terribly wrong with the concept. Wrong?

It's the leverage on the pin, the windshield hinge, and the windshield frame itself....BEFORE THE PINS BREAKS that I would be worried about.:eek:

IT would take a lot less work to make a bracket that just attaches via the hinge screw holes IMO.

After a little more consideration I have to agree, just a thought.

kaymar has mounts to hold a jack to the side of a roof rack
