Took the body off Tex and put it up on the twirler. Suspension is off the frame and all parts will be media blasted, primed and painted. Knocked out the final welding on the bottom of the frame and it's on the trailer and ready to head to media blast.

How to flip a frame by yourself 101 :)

While Tex's frame is off to the blaster the body is getting some love. The fire wall and under body has been stripped, cleaned and primed. Lizard Skin is next on the agenda and we'll move to the inside for the same treatment.

Tex is getting an entire interior refresh. It all starts with pulling out the interior, stripping the floor and fire wall. Then, just like the under side of the truck it gets primed, Lizard Skin sound and heat control (two different products and applications) then a coat of black paint (this promotes adhesion of Dynamat that is the last applied.

This same process will be done on the inside of the doors and rear quarters along with the roof. The roof will get a thicker product than Dynamat.

I plan on doing the exact same, funny enough with an identical USB charger on the back of my Tuffy box when it's time to put it under the knife. What are you using the switches to control? I think my grandmother's early 80s Oldsmobile had identical switches for the windows

You are on the mark, window controls, GM switches and harness

There are a few points in a build when I step back and just look and smile. This point is my favorite. A truck starts from the frame up and continues on until it rolls away with it's owner (not a favorite time of the build). Something about the rawness of it. The pinnacle of this point is just before the wheels and tires go on. Everything is black and silver/raw steel. Add the big, beautiful aluminum V8 with black accents and it is a monochromatic rolling piece of mechanical art with 430 HP. Arghhh Arghhh Arghh!

This particular truck is a 60 body/80 roller/LS3 4L65E Connect and Cruise package

Hard to answer, I'd have to go back through time books and figure it out. It is very time consuming removing all the old material.

Tex is a roller!! Out in the sun for the first time and now the body is going back on.

We have all heard the song, I want 40 caps on 17" rims blues. Cause 40 caps on FJC rims on 80 roller with a 60 body is ALL TOYOTA right :)

Seems like forever since Heather's truck Dexter has had any love, probably because it has. So holiday work it is. Heading for paint, sanded out to 220 so far. 5.3L/Monster 4l65E trans/Split Case drive line.

Sugar is getting a 5 speed transplant. Out with the NV4500 in with the Tremec 4050
Axis industries adapter. No provision for a T-case shifter so made up a mount using the plate and pin provided with the NV4500 adapter.

No glitches so far in the installation. Bolts right up to the same bell housing and uses same clutch and pressure plate set up as the NV4500. It was almost too easy, still waiting for the other shoe to drop :) Drive shafts will need to be made to the correct length as this set up is a bit longer. Cross member needed to be changed as well.

Seems to be a great alternative to finding a uses NV4500, rebuilding it and hoping it does not make a lot of noise in 5th gear.

Tremec 4050 and Axis Industries adapter. 6.0L Vortec motor. I love this particular truck, my favorite so far, it should be a bit quieter now :)

What advantages are there to running one over the other as far as NV4500 versus T4050? Is it just a noise factor and the NV4500's reliability of the rebuild?
