i have to say it's hers and I'm actually happy to:)

Anyway we picked up this '89 62 a month ago. It's clean enough and should be a good rig for many more years.
I rallied it today for the first time and found it getting hot while climbing long hills. I'm not worried HG but rather the fan clutch or bum thermostat. It cools quickly when not under load. Either way we'll get it figured out. Glad to be part of the 60's section

FC...I put about 15K cst in mine and retimed it to open early. it never gets hot anymore. I love my big 2F but I'm in love with the 3FE. I got 3 of em. calibrate TPS, go thru the diagnostic flow charts and make sure the harness is solid all the way back to the ecu. unplugging and replugging everything helps. check grounds, fusible links, and buy/build her a headlight harness. the PS pump is rebuildable- NOT LIKE the 2F. I got my wifes 88 for parts for my 55 but the poor thing was no where near dead, just sorta neglected, so I fixed it. it's been the daily driver for almost 5 years now. might complain every once and a while, need an alternator, or new vinyl flooring cause the front lawn was starting to sprout...maybe a windshield, because, hwy 99. All in all, just about hands down the best vehicle I've ever owned. Hope your treats you guys as well!

Thanks lambcrusher:)the FC advise is exactly what I needed. I've been tinkering on this thing for a month and I'm pretty excited to take her out. She needs all the maintenance you mentioned so I'm slowly checking them off. Hope to have her all good for Cruise Moab:)

So when we got Zoe the brakes were non existent. After process of elimination both master and booster were replaced with a 4 runner setup. 2 gallons of bleeding later and the brakes are pretty good. All new pads and shoes. The rig had no front bumper so my wife welded one up and gave it a paint job:) typical clear coat peel on the hood was refreshed with racing stripe. I'm going 2tone all the way down eventually

Pulled the fan, split it, warmed it in the oven and left it to drain overnight. The hobby shop only had 10 and 20K cts oil so I'll combine the two for roughly 15. I'll fill it tonight and top it off in the morning then give it a rip:)

Nope not adjustable. It has the red hub. I hear ya on splitting the shroud. Hers is desmogged so I was able to slide it out the side:)
It is working well now and it did help my heat issue a bit but not enough so... I pulled the stat it was working fine but it may have been leaking from the gasket. Cleaned it up put in a new gasket and it is much better now. Still getting air out of the system but I believe we are good to go:)

Well we are not good to go. Still getting hot under load uphill. I burped the system for 3 days jacked up down and sideways. I'm not sure the clutch fan is working properly either. The water pump was not leaking or feeling worn but I pulled it anyway and got a new one from Kurt along with a top hose. Coolant looks great with no contamination that I can see. So I'll get the pump installed and give her another run

Yeah definitely replace every...damn....hose... that is attached or near the waterpump while you have it out. SOOOOOO much easier to take care of those hard to reach places.

Well got it all back together, burped and... Still is getting almost to the red on the dash guage. I powered up a hill when it was pretty hot and it actually cooled down to half guage? The clutch fan is working it doesn't seem that hot just listening to it while shut off after running. The temp guage is a bit erratic rising and cooling quickly. The pulled the t stat and tested that it was opening. Almost ready to burn it to the ground:) Any ideas

How erratic are we talking? Its common for the temp gauge to jump due to a ground issue in the fuel sender circuit I believe.

That does sound similar to what others have described with the infamous bouncing needle issue. There are several threads on it and a fix outlined somewhere, sorry I can't remember right now. Good luck!

Think @Spook50 is the one that has the fix for it. Normally the bounce is associated with changes in the fuel gauge as well. Could also be a faulty gauge, still available I believe, or sender.

temp gauge will spike if fuel gauge current regulator is going south. hit the rad with an IR temp gun when the gauge reads HOT and see just how hot it really is. if it really is getting that hot, then I'd be suspicious of the radiator and cooling system of being clogged. heat build up is due to lack of air flow, lack of water flow, or excessive heat load from the engine(bad carb mix, poor engine health, bad bearings...). Might have the radiator boiled out, flow and pressure tested. clean the AC condenser. you can hear the fan clutch spooling?
