That thing is a beauty!

What Ram are you going to try out now on the Lexus?

Im kinda hoping the ram still is functional. It doesn't look bent. Perhaps I just need a new line. Got the replacement line from trail gear the other day. Will see if it works. If ram not working I'll use an exact replacement. Ram is plenty strong. If there is anything to change it's the pump-perhaps something with more output.

I stopped out and saw the progress in person. Looks great. What are you gonna do to protect the steering pump? It is kinda sticking out all by itself. Dawn said your dad ran into a problem with the designing. any word on that?

Yea Rear end needs some help but its the easy part. We can fib all those issues once we get the rear back from blitzkreig

We are always having headaches with the torchmate software but our autocad designed front end is legit. This car will work

nice .. just wonder .... why IFS .. knowing you .. ;)

We are building a race car. Planning to race ultra 4 and desert events. I also want to have a fast wheeler rig. Thiz car should be as fast as anything. My only regret is with the motor. Wish I would have went a little bigger.

And front end will have more travel with ifs than most buggies do with linked axles.

got it .. no more rock wheeling ..

It's all about the rocks- Just way faster.

Our 100 series is getting a little small for our family. And it's a little beat up. Been thinking about cutting an identical 9" ifs assembly out for the 100 and making it the replacement for the 80....

Or make the 80 IFS...

yeah it seems like just a year ago the car in ultra 4 were in the 300-400 hp range now it seems like there in the 500hp+ range
Easier to keep car together with lower hp

Still all comes down to the driver.

Ifs 80 eh? He'll why not ...

Might be better to use a 100. v8 & Ifs already ...

when i baught the crate motor (485 HP) i felt pretty good. untill i saw all the 600hp cars out there. will see. the t400 and big tires suck up a lot of that energy. we are only running 38's and are trying to keep the weight down (not working) so perhaps it will be ok

H3 Long Travel Build - Pirate4x4.Com Bulletin Board

found this on pirate. would be sick to do this on the 100
i followed that build. sweet. a hundred series would be better. A lightweight 3.4L tacoma would work best for this front end. biggest issue on my mock up would be getting the front dshaft to work. but would be sick

You do realize it doesn't matter how fast our rig is....You will still have to wait for my slow ass to catch up. Maybe plan on bringing a good book or a cot to relax on. Might even consider some type of fold out entertainment center to catch up on movies. I would suggest movies that are along the lenght of Titanic.

awesome thread and lots of info for something thinking about going this route. I am hoping to pickup my 60/70 combo this week. we have a retired dodge cummins service truck sitting out back at work. the town it belonged to decided not to fix the injection pump. i bought the truck for $300. i should be able to salvage the axles and scrap the rest of the truck and at least break even. may keep the cummins turbo motor if it has any value...

my plan is to 3link the front and leave the rear suspension as is. 41.5" Pitbull Rockers. stock tcase.

my question is on gearing. with no reduction in tcase and no power adders, i planned to go 6.17s ,but now im thinking i should just do 7.17s and be done with it. from what im reading, there really is no difference, strength wise, between 6.17s and 7s. are your industrial gears any louder? thanks for your help.

i plan to drive/wheel this truck a lot and the tons are just for peace of mind. its cheaper for me to build a stronger truck than to buy a truck and trailer.

i trailer my truck every where and it never goes fast anymore. when i redid my rear end i went with normal gears and the normal are quiter

Glad you and the scouts are OK.

I vote new body so you can go to Utah with us next year for an explore/overland trip.

How is the KOH buggy coming along?

i just got back from church and none of the moms are upset. there was no risk of a full roll. the flop was soft, all 4 of the boys were belted. before we attempted the hill we did our seatbelt check and rolled up the windows.

during this trip we had to break out the winch twice and had to do countless tugs. by the end of the day the scouts had a system down: 2 scouts to man the main strap, one scout for the tree strap, one scout handled the d-ring and other hard tackle. by the end of the day the scouts were getting fast with recovery.

Drew the utah trip sounds wicked fun. I would like to have more details on this trip..One thing that makes the 80 special is its ability to get deep into the toughest trails while carrying so much gear. i dont want to loose the ability to move 5 people and there stuff. i love wheeling the humvee and it can carry a lot of gear but the humvee is not as capable off road. it cant do what we want to do. period. i dont believe it would do well in moab. be well i mean the humvee would take all day to get through a moderate trail because someone would be recovering it all the time.

anyway the KOH/ultra 4 buggy is comming together as fast as we can get parts. i havnt taken a wrench to her since late last spring when i turned it over to the capable abilities of Unlimited Fabrication. the guys there are doing excllent work. me and my dad do all the cad (meaning my dad) and torchmate work. we were hoping to be ready for hammers but i dont think we will make it. the guys are building the fuel cell now but the cell will need a custom bladder and that will take another month. it needs some shock tunning and testing with KING too. it still needs all the plumbing and wiring. but it should be amazing

Wow man glad you and everyone made it out safe. Nice carnage. Rebuild it.

Glad you guys are okay...doesn't look too back you maybe able to straighten the A pillar, but I'm only guessing my looking at the one pic that shows it. Mine was too bent to make it work with a new windshield correctly.
