Maybe this one will show it better?

That's the pic I've seen, usually if the pillar is not bent inward too much they are able to correct it relatively well, but it's a bitter sweet thing when you roll your rig. It sucks initially, but I love my chopped 80 even more.

Damn that sucks, dusty!

I say find out what the rules for the new KOH class and build it to suit. Especially if your IFS buggy won't be finished in time. This way you wont miss competing in KOH and can take you time work fine tune the buggy for next year.

With a u shaped tie rod....

Talked to him Monday or Tuesday night. Damage is just bad enough to not be fixable (glass won't work). I suggested zipping the top off off right below all the windows, make half doors, full cage, plexiglass windshield, and putting a flat sheet of metal on top of the cage for shade/safety. We could do it in a weekend.

You know you want to do it Dustin...

yea
i feeling she will get chopped soon. i could race her in the stock modified class if i can get a cage in her. she will need better bumpstops too.

I just need the time to get it done. I know the guys building my buggy could build the cage but that will distract from their work on the buggy. i wish there was someone nearby that truly knows what they are doing and could do a good job on the cage....

How about this
i supply all the materials and tools/bender/welder/etc and they supply the skills and backwork to build the cage. in exchange for building the cage and installing the harnesses, that person gets to do half the driving in the race and i pay the race entry fees. if said person trashes the truck while racing i dont care. thats racing. you build the truck and you get to race first half of race. i have her sitting on a trailer now. come pick up the ultimate 80 and the needed tools. deal is only for respected Mud members

any takers?

Hell yeah!!

Hell I can get ya a pit crew as well

If only you lived closer..

Pit crew's requirement it to drink and have fun right??!

Then we got that covered ; )

So what is the general consensus on which dana 60 to look for for the front on the 80? I dont need one yet, but Id like to keep my eye out for one so i can pick it up and start getting it re-habbed to install in the future. Specific brand and years would be helpful.

Thanks.
James

I thought this bump was an update on the 80.

I'll let othes pitch in as I haven't done the swap but when I was looking at everything I settled on Dodge axles due to width. HTH!

Ill keep an eye out for the dodge axels. I see chevy 60's and 14 bolts for sale all day long. Dont seem to see many dodge axles. Thanks for the input.

I found a kingpin/drive flange dana 60 and a dana 70 out of a 80's dodge DRW. 4:88's and a limited slip in the rear. Guy wants $1200.

Also found a dana 60 and a 14 bolt out of a 73 chevy DRW. 5:13's with limited slip front, and detroit rear. Rear needs new brakes. Id pull the limited from the front and eventually install a selectable. Gy wants $1500

Which would you guys go with?

Well to back up a little dusty if the rear hatch is still good we can make a deal.... That way it will save you wait and have less to cut... Then with all the members you could probably have a full pit crew...

We can do it at my place so Dawn doesn't get mad. I probably have half your tools anyways. :whoops:

James, If you want to get in touch with Dustin, give me a call and I can get you his number. The man is very, very busy and unless your on fire, he has to deal with family, sick people, and rounds / appointments and if he has a minute and remembers, he'll call you back.
