Hello you guys,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Can anyone tell me what the writing on the back fold up hatch door GLASS means. Here is what it says on my 1962 FJ40 and as far as I know it is the original glass that came with the cruiser: TEMPERLITE / S-58-K / FJ 25 L-D G4 215 / TOYOTA JAPAN / AS 2.

Thanks. FJFJFJ / BTW,,,,,,,,,The glass is in good enough shape that I will be using it in the restore. I guess I could get new glass cut but this original glass is very cool. Any thoughts on the correct approach here since this is my first restoration. I naturally lean towards reusing everything I can within reason.

AS 2 is safety glass for automobile use, s-58-k is safety glass manufactured by Asahi glass company, ltd.

Sorry, that's tapped me out. Tom?

.

TEMPERLITE = Trademark name of the glass.

S-58-K = Manufacturer code used by Asahi Glass Ltd.

FJ 25 = The original model number for whom this glass was first produced.

L-D G4 215 = Most likely relate to specific glass properties and size.

Toyota Japan = The car maker that the glass was produced for.

AS-2 = American Standard 2, means the glass is tempered with at least 70% light transmissions, and can be used anywhere except the windshield.

Wow. It's going to be one of the nicest cruisers out there where you're done. Plans?

beautiful, nice work and thanks for preserving a piece of History....

Didn't the very early 40s have a white gauge face? Ill have to go check my pics but I'm pretty sure my 1963 (actually made in 62) hade the white gauge face.

Edit. Or was it silver. Pretty sure it wasn't black though.

Hello Girraffe,,,,,,,,,My Gauge face is the original. Oil and Chg are the correct lit up gauges also. I know what you mean about white gauge faces though. Hello Tjhaga,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,those hose clamps in the picture are my originals. Just restored them. There is a place in Escondido California ( I will find out the name for you ) that sells those type clamps though. Not sure if Toyota sells them. fjfjfj
