Very cool LX and the Troopie is just amazing. And as mentioned earlier those old original pics of the 72 are the best. Is that LX a JDM? I have a JDM BJ41 1980 Diesel and had a BJ61 LX Diesel and have always liked the BJ42 LX Diesel but have not seen an FJ40 LX. What's the story on that one? Very cool. A pic of my 1980 diesel. FJFJFJ

Thanks! Beautiful bj40 you have there! What's under the cover in the garage?

My LX is original delivery Oz, not JDM. It was a fire truck, which is why it has so few miles. I bought it 7 years ago in South Australia and then brought it back with me when we moved back to NM a few months ago.

I would have liked a bj42 LX, but this one was so clean that I jumped on it. It's just as well though as I know the 2f like an old friend and only have a passing familiarity with the 3b.

Of all the Cruisers I've owned, this LX is my favourite by far. The insulation, 5 speed, power steering, etc make it SO comfy on the highway yet it still crawls around like an old cruiser. Plus I just love the rumble of the exhaust and sewing machine tick of the 2f.

In the garage,,,,,,,,,,,

Hi Chamba,,,,,,,,,,,,,Yea, your LX is very nice. I know what you mean about comfort. My 1980 BJ41 has Factory AC and is just overall really comfortable. It is my daily driver. Sounds like you made the right choice in bringing your LX home with you. Fire Truck? That is cool. In my garage is the pic below of my 1970 FJ55 that I am now getting ready to finish up. I have powder coated the original steel wheels, getting new caps for it, the paint you see is ORIGINAL, never painted since factory. The original owner's daughter blew it up in 1975 and it then sat in their Palm Springs garage until around 2010. I picked it up from my friend last year. I put a 2F in it. Just dialing in on cosmetics but the interior is incredibly clean so I lucked out. The Toyota Van is the most original and best conditioned vehicle that I own. A 1984 with only 65k miles on it when I bought it two years ago. Interior and exterior all original and mint condition, virtually flawless. I found it in a collectors home in Seattle. It is just in amazing condition. No Kids, No Cargo, No Camping. That was the key to that success. I have tried to keep it that way in honor of those from the past who babied it. Anyway, really like your cruisers man and that Troopie of yours is off the charts. Thanks for all the great info and will post pics when my 1962 is finished. Should be about a week now. Can't wait. Adios, FJFJFJ

Wow, cool collection of cars! How do you keep finding them?!

Well you know how it goes. Patience and persistence. I just look and look and look. I love collecting them all but never have enough money to be able to keep them all forever. That is the bummer part of the whole exercise. Adios, FJFJFJ

Toyota is the best.

Hi JohnnyC,,,,,,,,,,,,,O, I have a kid, one son 14 years old, but I have not used that Toyota Van for anything except staring at and taking to the TORC now and then. It was just a lucky Van in the past since none of the last three owners ( amazing it had 3 owners besides me ) did not have any kids. As you know, KIDs, Camping and Cargo is what tears up those wonderful old Toyota Vans. lol. Check out the interior. Flawless. I got lucky. Adios, FJFJFJ

Just checked in on this. Thanks for the restoration. You are a credit to the affliction. Good work.

Had to laugh.

UMPQUA,,,,,,,,,LOL. "Credit to the affliction". Had to laugh. Thanks for the nice comment on the restore. Been fun but won't be doing it again anytime soon. TOO MUCH WORK. ONE WEEK LEFT TO GO ( hopefully ). Trying to get this original 51 year old piece pictured below back in good shape. Gotta keep working on it. fjfjfj.

Just for the record; I am neither obsessed nor afflicted. I am focused.

My focus is so under control that I don't even feel the need to comment on the pic of your horn button. If I were afflicted or obsessed I could not stop myself from saying something like "me so horny" or something similarly juvenile.

Any more details on how you're fixing the horn button? I have two and they are both cracked all over the plastic. Would love to restore them. If you have some tips on what to do, I would appreciate a post or two explaining what you're doing. Thanks!

No Chamba, you have it alright; just look at your mod footer. One of the symptoms of the psychosis is denial.

My doctor says I'll be fine once I do the frame-off. Besides, it's not my fault; it's this bloody smart phone and mud. I'm innocent.

Your Dr must be a heep owner... That does NOT cure it at all... It will go into remission ... But ... Comes back stronger the next time... You need to control it before its too late :)

My prayers have kept me to one truck ... I have friends that have MANY ... They have lack of control LOL

I figure my last frame off was just practice. Next one will be.....the next one :-)

When asked why I had two Cruisers my answer was always 'because I can't afford three.'

Some More Pics. Almost done.

So, today we did the steps. I had two choices of material. I chose what I found out to be closest to the original. Tom Binn's has very good originals and though what I used was not exactly, it was very similar ( smaller squares though according to Tom ). There is also Pyramid that I noticed Mike Bradshaw used. I bought some of that also but decided on the squares because it was closer to the original and also the color, natural color just happened to be PERFECT match to my Lily White paint job. Hood went on today, bumper, more hose clamps after nickel coating and some other details. I lose track. lol. fjfjfj
