Can someone please shed some light on which is the correct Headlight Bezel for my 08/1978, FJ45 (Australian market) - Round or Square?

That would be round. Easy clue is the handle for the latch that keeps the hood from flying up. 1/79 when square style started that exposed handle was gone.

Also the square bezel used four spot welded bracket on the bib to mount the bezel.

probably best to measure to make sure, it should be round but the bib can be swapped out for a later one fairly easily.

A had a couple different 74 models that had the safety catch.

As in the pic Matt posted above. The square bezel is just a touch wider but the mounting holes are a little closer together. So not interchangeable but as stated above the bib could be swapped. Need to confirm the mount hole width.

Dates are wrong. Never seen a 40 series made before 1961. I've owned four FJ25s made in 1960. Some version of the 4X series was made as late as 4/86. Remember there was a 86 troopy for sale in Costa Rica years ago. Seen a parts listing for brake parts up to 4/86.

Few bibs I had easy excess to. First three pictures are from a 1/79+. Last two are 9/73-12/78. Bought it cheap years ago out of wrecking and believe it was odd a 74.

Few interesting facts. The screen is mounted closer to the front to help with clearance for a A/C condenser coil if it had that option. Even with the screen it is much lighter than the pre 1/79 version. Never compared the pre 7/71 to see if it is heavier still.
