Fine work there Bossman and Bomar. Can't wait to see it on the trail.

Mighty fine there Boss Man! Now get over here and help us get our junk finished! You evedently have it figured out.

Looks good. Hopefully I can get mine finished before too long.
I have a tech related question though. After chopping the rear off of mine we realized that the rear suspension doesn't flex at all. Have you had a chance to get it out and do any testing?

I wanna see some coilovers on some of our chopped 80's!

No, just driving through the ditch and such. I expect it to be a bit of a problem though. Only solutions I can think of involve shifting more weight to the rear or softer springs for the rear. Expect the first weekend of June at Hot Springs will be the first real test for it. I'll give y'all a report then.

For now, I still have a laundry list of things to get done. Front locker/axle rebuild, skid plate, some sort of removable plastic windshields with wipers, rear seat/seats, storage tote, bed liner floor, etc

Got the front luch box locker installed and did a little more while I was there...

Sorry for the fuzzy pic but used my trusty Metabo to do this:

So I could install these:

Also Martack'd the inner axles so I could do away with the birf circlips. Now I just gotta do the CDL switch and 7 pin mod so I can lock/unlock at will.

7 pin mod. I see it all the time. What's it do?

It allows you to lock and unlock the axles and CLD regardless of t-case position. In stock form you can only lock the axles in low range.

Nice!

Are those mini truck hubs?

When & where is the shakedown run?

7 pin mod along with a CDL switch allows you to " lock" the center diff in high range and/or unlock the center diff lock in low range.

With the front hubs unlocked it's like removing the front driveshaft. The truck will not move in high range without this mod. There is another way around this by shifting into low range and removing the CDL fuse. You can then shift back into high and drive off.

The other benefit is to unlock the center diff in low range. Makes driving (steering) easier on the easy parts of the trail when you have a front locker.

Basicly an easy and cheap "why not".

I know what you're thinking... I did manual hubs initially, but went back to flanges, they aren't bad on the road with that front auto locker.

Good call on the pin 7 mod... it does make a huge difference when on the trail and have the autolocker up front.

Not something I would spend big bucks to address but I had the hubs and only had to cut the snap ring relief in the birfs. I would have done the CDL and 7 pin mod either way. IF this rig ends up in Moab there will be some street time but that's about the only time I can think of.

I love this truck more and more. It's gonna cause me to eventually do the same thing I think...
