I built up the rear with some more of that 1/8 by 3 by 6 and 3/4 I got at the scrap yard-32 feet of it for 45 bucks. It is going to become the rear bed mount and double team the upper 10mm bumper bolt. The bumper will get shortened to match and some wings will be made. I dusted the second 10 pound spool before I got done welding the upper to lower skirt seam and that was when I called it a day. It was hotter than satans ass crack today, I'll get those pics up later.

Man be careful, alot of fires going on, out your way. I burned up my sweatshirt, welding. Got that " funny " smell and looked down!

I had that with some overalls a few years back
I was half necked for the rest of the day. I had the hose charged and ready, but yea, that was too close.

yes, stockton is like the part of the crack you might see if ol lucifer were a plumber.....which makes Bakersfield like his taint!
on another nut. got the rear lights and stuffed em into the monster holes I chewed out of the plate for em, I'm rather impressed with my hole hawg and the lennox 4 1/2" hole saw I drove with it. there was chucks of steel flying everywhere. Landed the tag on the rear sill and cut the crossmembers that ran over the tires out and rebraced for their absence. That was today. yesterday, I got the engine compartment put all the way back together with the exception of throttle and choke cables. something about a bell crank and a barrel end for the choke. Should have the bellcrank by wedsnday. STILL waiting on rear glass, but I got the radii cut, just wont burn em till I have glass in hand. the old seat sat well but was too full of mildew, so I figgered out a quick temp fix for getting the newer seat in. the seat issue will get a revisit. seat belts will be fj60 rear laps bolted thru the rear uprights married with fj55 front seat receivers and the length should be perfect. not counting the rear harness(which is 2 runs of 12/4 sO cord for now, run from bumper to engine bay, (2)4 pin connectors will terminate them there. I will run 1/2" emt along the frame some time in the next few weeks, and replace the sO with primary or maybe MTW, and then terminate those to a DIN mounted terminal strip on the battery tray
) got all the wiring done. Still need to drill in a license plate luminarie to be legit and maybe some mud flaps. I did go ahead and clean up and install the heater box, and am going to use the late resistor on the old blower motor and install it. So, the seat is in, the dash is done and the wires are landed(mostly)the engine cranks and all the whistles and bells work the body is secured, the bed is secured and I have lights. the fuel s*** is done for now and I have a safe place to keep my tools. I HAVE TO finish the seat belts, burn in the rear window radii and install the glass, install the W/S, illuminate my license plate, choke my carb, bellcrank my throttle, build a rack, skin the bed and doll up and install the doors.

what color do you think? default flat black, or stick with the olive, or...?
Yea, I'd stay with the black. Maybe Satin Black, just remember, you will be touching it up, on occation.

awesome, thanks for the input, guys. I got the rear glass today, but won't touch it till tomorrow. I did build the front bed hoop. steels gettin spendy, so the rest of the rack will have to wait. just ordered the bed skins and should have those tomorrow as well.
