I have been feeling the same way. got my bell crank and had to do a bunch of work to get it some real estate. Ended up putting in my fj60 brake booster and then reinstalled the fj55 brake master. dug out my fj 40 mirrors and found a spot for them going to try to take it into town tomorrow to pick up the ACX

took it for fuel. no crazy shakin or noises...maybe some funk with the fj60 booster to fj55 master, but it stops fine and spins tires. now I hafta go get the deck:bounce::bounce::bounce:

Would love to have that creation. I have really enjoyed watching your
progress on this 55 - very tasteful -thanks.

Wow! I just went back and looked at some of your thread. It's only been two weeks, since you moved the empty cab over. Two weeks and you got it running, amazing. Good job.

PS, I like the shirt!

Way to go!

Looks great.

Thanks guys!

yeah, wood:rolleyes: it will help keep things quieter, won't get as hot and won't be as hard as steel for when I decide to take it for an overnight or 4. I have about 3" to spare sprawled out sideways on the bed:hillbilly: it was also considerably less expensive and will work till I decide I can't live with it

the bed is far from done, but it's ready to git to work. I have the doors about half way ready to bolt on-one 73 with wing, and one 74 without-but it's what I had all the parts to finish, well get close. I need to rebuild the upper hinges on both sides and if I had a regulator for a 74 window, I could ditch the wing deal and its worn out seal. I guess I am going to have to get door and window run rubbers, or listen to the rattle. No doors was kinda cool, but sucked when I left the rig to inside the supply house and grocery store. It also kicked up alot of debris and there is nowhere to put anything w/o it going away on a left hand curve.....SO, I will go ahead and do the doors. Might still do a drivers half door. got a mudflap today that will get made into 2. and I need a bulb for the license plate light:doh:

I think, it's a great bed. Like you said, ready for work. If the plywood doesn't hold up, you could get some rough cut hardwood " OAK " from the mill, last a life time.

door.....went on without anything more than prelim alignment. installed the latch and simply closed the door. I couldn't believe how well it fit considering how little I did to set it up to begin with.

still gotta load it down some more and go to the scales, but it feels much lighter on the road. I been watching the shackle angle sink little by little, but it's still steeper than with the wagon and the same payload.:bounce: I hafta do the rear hoop and tie the front and rear together, ditch the tools and load it with food water a stove tarp and bedroll and go out and get some trail. I took it on it's first service call yesterday, and as it should be, had to navigate a couple miles of semi rough dirt just to get there:grinpimp:

Need some input here. I have a 74 door that has a solid window frame(solid, meaning both the one piece window and stout) BUT the outer door skin is crunched. I have a 73 door with a terrible backbone, but real nice outer skin. SO, should I skin both doors and reskin the 74 with the nicer shell, OR, use the window frame from the 74 on the 73 door and try to make it rigid again? I will make the left over a half door, but I don't want to just start cutting and create more work for myself.

I haven't done either one, but trying to reskin, sounds better. Good luck, you have tackled some big jobs, already. A door skin should be a piece of cake! :)

;)thanks for the vote of confidence. I think that may be what I do.....I MAY try to repair/patch the door as I do have a good 6" swath top to bottom from the rear half doors.....I bolted the OG to this chassis door w/o window frame on. I believe the problem lie with the fender fitment.....this side was the one that gave me ALL of the trouble installing....FYI, this window frame had been poorly repaired in the past and had already cracked thru the entirety of its repair welds, so pulling the window channel at its door frame does not constitute as destroying a perfectly good door to me:hillbilly:
