the 79 series... the only truck toyota made that looks better than the 55

4900#s +or- 10#s on a scale that was calibrated yesterday, fuuly loaded w/ tools, rack, 10' X 16" vintage seabee PSP landing mat that will comprise to tailgate and over box shelf. I have 2 more mats coming. I am doing some work for an ol seabee who built landing strips all over the south pacific during WW2. He thought he only had one left and told me to take it, then I found 2 more. I was going to leave them thinking he meant that I could take the one, but he asked me if he had any more of them out there, so I told him that he had 2 left after the one I loaded up. He told me to help myself to em next time I was over. They weigh 65 #s each and are made from 10 gauge, if not 1/8"+. There are interlocking slots and keys all the way along each side, so that the mats could be locked together to form a continuous strip. They will make superb sand ladders. I found a company online that sells surplus landing mats in all of their various forms, located in OK. They are getting $45 bucks per mat plus shipping. FYI, they will chop them in 2(5 footers) and ship the pair UPS or FEDEX for $40 more, or freight for about a hundred to almost anywhere in the con US for the full 10 footers. slo going. ran into a fiscal roadblock, and the heats been keeping me from meltin any more steel.......on the upside, should have liability insurance policy in place and that should net more work. slump. you need to borrow a welder??? hopefully your insurance doesn't keep you waiting, that sucks, I had a similar incident involing my truck and about 1500 buck of my favorite hand tools. if my buddies hadn't been there, I prolly woulda got shot as I intended to go door to door at that roach motel till I found the tweaker with my bucket. fawkin animals.

LAMBCRUSHER, Insurance good and thanks for offer on welder. Everyone is running into fiscal roadblocks now-a- days. ( could it be our so-called leader.?) And I cant work in the Heat either I am ready for Fall. Its awesome around here. Glad your Buds were there, nothing like good friends in that situation. Keep rocking on the PIG-UP. you are doing a great job.

Thanks Bob.

thanks for the vote of confidence. It goes a long way coming from someone with your craftsmanship.;)

as far as the truck goes, I drive it everyday, just can't wait to get back to work on the bed, finish the fab, yank it and paint it and put the green creep back together again

I said it once and I'll say it again - I can't stand 55's. But damn that is a nice truck! Wicked build and my mind's starting to wander about all the 55's down here..

shucks, thanx mate. ;)

stretch the frame, use 60 or wider axles(mog) and do the extended/cab-n-3 4ths as its lines want to naturally flo, and don't be shy with bed width or trim. I have seen 1 other rig with an extenda cab an bobbed frame that lkooked like a real gitter for tight spots, but what I'm workin with is gunnna do ok.....I just need to finish it(never).;)

it's either been REAL hot, or I hit my head REAL hard, cause i feel like I woke from a coma on friday last. I have my normal mojo going and am willin more s*** to come to fruition, and fell very aware of my previous lackin. ........anyhoo. more to come, pics to follow....and thanks for viewing.....the manifestations of my madness(and it's only monday/tuesady, depending on your time zone:beer::doh:)

got window rubbers on order, have a couple of leads on my drivers door window reg, have to order my new heater blower resistor, and rebuild the doors and heater ducting...still need to get a handle on the tailgate and there's a dam rattle/squeak in the rear lower body:mad: Sorry for the lack of pics and delay in updates, but the pig-ups been loggin mad miles gittin me and the trick o me trade to and froe. septembers gas bill was upwards of 800. now I need to finish sealin her up for the cold season

I ordered 2 left hand front drivers(left) FJ60 outer felts from SOR for 24.25 a piece. I believe they will glue in place without more than a slight trim. I intend to use one on the left and one on the right- just turned bass-ackwards. the right hand felt was 31 bones.....

the doors are 74 doors with the drivers being in rough shape. the passenger is already on, and I've been rockin the 73 door less window frame/glass for the past month or so. I didn't want to mess with the platinum wing window seals, so Bogus hooked me up with a set of one piece doors. with a bit of luck, I'll get some time on those this w/e and post up some more pics. That is, IF I get bored of my new Mosin Nagant on Sunday:beer:

drivers door is on and dressed out except for the door panel, some bondo and paint. got the window gaskets in and the outer felts from a 60 series installed. have to get some new wiper blades. tomorrow I am going to install some 60 series shoulder belts and see what I can do for defrost ducts, finish sealing things like the steering wheel bulkhead, trans hump and the odd unused bolthole. still chasing that darn squeak......also need to think about finishing the body work and putting some dam paint over the faded olive primer.....

the beds workin great. I hauled 400 feet of 1-2"conduit on it a few weeks ago. I STILL haven't brain farted the tail gate...maybe I'll work on that today, too.
