Yep, and I think the last few times I got the warnings it was with the last (dying) battery. So hopefully nothing.

What specifically did you have to replace?
The ABS wiring harness that splits off and goes to each wheel speed sensor. Pretty easy to get to so wasn't an expensive job to have my shop do it. I don't have a lift otherwise I would have done it myself.

Trail damage?
Unknown. The ABS wiring that connects into the wheel speed sensor on the driver side apparently had been siliconed in by either first owner or the shop they took it to. The vehicle was 10 years old when I got it so there's no telling how long it had been that way. And that also explains why it tripped a code and the code would go away and the code would come back and it will go away. My guess is they snagged it on something out in West Texas and pulled that wiring out of the sensor and instead of replacing the wiring harness they opted just to put it all back together again haphazardly with electrical tape and silicone.

A little campsite porn for you guys. Last weekend we took a trip to lake powel area and hiked Wirepass to Buckskin Gulch. Its freaking amazing up there. We parked our trailer where the road ended at the edge of a wilderness area. The sand in the wash in front of our truck was like flour. We walked a couple miles up the wash and back barefoot.

You get the thumbs up for the dog. 👍

Mine have 80k on them now with 10k towing and still (shockingly) performing well. Im sure I’ll be doing this soon though. Did you do a write up on your build thread @Rednexus?
I was rushing and did a light-writeup at best (but do have some info in my build thread). The biggest hiccup was finding the fluid. The Fuchs and Shell fluids Ironman recommends aren't available in the US unless you want to buy gallons of it. But they list the viscosity specs in their rebuild manual, and I picked KYB-01M fork oil on Amazon which was the closest I could find. Two 32 ounce bottles did both shocks.

The other struggle I had was getting all of the little washers/shims back in the right order. I was sloppy on the 1st shock, so I disassembled the 2nd shock and laid everything other carefully, and was able to get both back together in the right order.

Me too. Mine puts out 25psi max now and overheats doing it. My ironman has been great though.

Id guess I should officially apologize to the for making a video that compelled some to be as cheap a bastard as me 😅

I still still don’t think I could cough up the grand for an arb brushless and accessories. Maybe if I were traversing a long overland trip overseas.
I remember that video of you you made that mount and everything for your compressor. It's a great video, but with a poor product. But it at least it shows viewers how it can be done.
A little blast from the past (about 5 years ago):

After 55000 miles and 3 years my front 5100s have left the building.

I am very hard on my dampers, I have thousands of miles of offroading, plus jumps, crazy crosswinds and horrible road conditions.

I am very satisfied with them and ordered another pair to install when I do my dobinsons lift springs.

Less than 400$ for a pair of height adjustable 2" monotubes with digressive valving is a steal imho.

Been looking at LCAs probably going go with Super Pros sometime ih the next 18 months.

I really wanted to find a way to run larger tires without compromising articulation and I cant find that path.

I think i see why folks keep saying 285/75r17s are the sweet spot.

Maybe when my KDSS 💩 the bed I can relocate my LCA mounts but until then I think I am near my build peak.

I am going to keep casually shopping for bead grip rims, as I would like to go down below 10 psi.

I dont really see a good match offset wise so I am going to ruminate on it for awhile. I also sliced one of my Hakkipilettas. Its not leaking yet, but will need to run it into discount and see if they will warranty it. Probably order a new one for one thats worn poorly due to alignment issues at the same time. I dont really know what else to do for snow tires right now. They are amazing on trails just a little fragile.

The second annual check of the JW Offroad door mounted tire carrier - nothing weird to report. Checked the usual spots where rust would be and I didn't see anything. The powder coat seems to have held up well but I think it's their new process of powdercoating as I recall they had some problems before. I do live in a really dry area though.

It was a busy weekend wrenching on the GX. I replaced front UCAs, LCAs, all new hardware, and also added 1/4" spacers above the struts. A couple weekends ago I tackled inner and outer tie rods and boots. I stuck with OEM parts since my lift is mild.

I ordered the Toyota SST balljoint puller from Amayama and it is awesome. I couldn't stop smiling when I unboxed it.

The reason for the 1/4" strut spacers was due to my 1.5" Dobinsons struts only lifting ~1" over stock height up front. I thought it was a full 1.5" initially but now realize I was comparing to my old, tired front suspension. Spent a lot of time talking with Dobinsons, studying measurements, researching, etc.

In the end, Dobinsons couldn't tell me if my springs were defective or if these coils were not up to the extra weight of the 460. They offered strut spacers and I eventually accepted. A lot more to the story there.

Have you had it aligned yet? How's the ride?

Very clean looking work!

Rides nice! Haven’t had it aligned yet (will do) but painstakingly measured toe and marked LCA adjuster locations before starting. Got everything installed, adjusted, re-checked toe, and I was ~0.1deg off. Good enough for now.

Is there any reason I can't / shouldn't mount the winch shutoff here, and also get rid of this plastic panel altogether?

Nope, that's what I've done. I mounted my air compressor using the power tray recommended on Jake's video above.

Shouldn't be a problem. I have my breaker switch mounted on it for my rear inverter and power panel. Have had it that way for years now.

Thats where I mounted mine. Kit bashing an lfd compressor mount. Just bought all yhe hardware and will get back with LFD about brackets to make it work with the rear heat.
Thanks guys. Any issue driving without this engine bay shroud on for a few days? (The one that goes at the front of the hood by the grille)

Nope, just watch your temps. But should be fine. I have mine off for long periods of time.

I should also add that I cut an a cess for my radiator fill. I need to cut an access for the overflow. Once I remount the retro grill I will put it back on.

That cover is where I keep my air attachments for the compressor. I have clips to hold them in place.
