If only this was how the facelifted bumper covers actually looked - life would be a little easier haha. Happy thanksgiving everyone.

Yeah all 5 subspecies fly, although they are far from graceful flyers LOL. They all roost in trees to avoid predators with the exception of the Rio Grande which often uses man made structures to roost in at night. You can use a crow or owl call in the evening to get them to gobble back at you to give away their location. Then come back in the morning and setup in the location you heard them to wait for them to come down from the roost and call them in.

In the 60's and 70's there weren't a lot of wild turkey's around, just seeing one was a big event. Restocking programs around the Country has brought the population up to around 6 million or so today. They are nuisance problem in some areas now. Many grouse hunters have noticed where turkey populations have gone up grouse populations have gone down but biologists have not established a cause due to wild turkeys.

Plucking them takes a long time and is a lot of work. But if you don't keep the skin on they dry out when cooking. Wrapping them in bacon helps a lot and well, because bacon...

I do keep some Wild Turkey and Drambuie around for a few special occasions and fine cigars. Not a smoker by any means.

Too bad you're so far away. We could probably have some nice chats over a smoke and a adult beverage.
My indulgence is tobacco pipes. Never been addicted to cigarettes (or anything else), but I've been smoking a pipe for over 35 years, and only smoke North Sea, a Danish blend from the Tinder Box. Tinder Box – Premium Cigars, Pipe Tobacco & Pipes | Haverford, PA - https://www.tinderbox.com/
For me, it's kind of like ice cream in front of the TV. If I'm camping, I may smoke it every night, otherwise I'll probably only fire up a bowl once every couple of weeks or so, and sometimes pair it with a nice room temp. dark Scottish ale, sitting on our deck watching the waves break.

Getting a lot of misfires on 3 4 and 5 until its warm.

Going in for service on January 12th

Its awaiting diagnostic so its parked. Diagnostic is for headgasket

I ended up buying a Wattcycle Lifepo4 battery based on Will Prowse's review of their build quality. Glad I didn't fork out the crazy premium for battleborn!

I think I’ve heard of a few using Battleborn in their rigs

@Acrad, thanks for the heads-up. I don't know if this a batch or a process problem because I have had no issues with mine. I check all my component operation during winterizing and pre-op. I'm definitely open to other manufacturers if this defect affects mine someday.

The move away from lead acid was a rewarding experience for travel trailer use. I don't regret it for a second. Hoping this is something that the manufacturer gets ahead of to correct.

@rav8 You may want to keep a thermal gun around to check at times under heavy load to see if yours are affected.

Hopefully yours isn’t affected.

I check on it once in a while. I expect that some users don't take the same precautions as I do.

I may pull it out of the loop over winter to test. I do have reliable temp measuring/monitoring equipment available but I don't think it is necessary at this point.

This omniscient influencer has a history of changing course...and he's not that good.

@Acrad...I appreciate the info. I know how some folks treat their travel rigs and power supplies. I am not one of those. I do think that the type of usage makes a difference.

Edited to add a couple images. Ran TV, radio, most lights and the inverter. Still cool.

I'll check but I think mine is 3 years running. Not dead yet and terminals are solid.

I am starting to heavily consider dumping the GX if it needs new heads, or setting it aside for a full power train conversion in a few years.

If its not just gaskets, potentially 12k+ engine repairs in a vehicle with a 13k trade value at best has me 2nd guessing it.

Hopefully your heads are not warped too bad. Most cracks can be fixed. All the 2uz motor we have had apart never needed the heads replaced. Couple resurfaces, repairs and basic valve jobs. But that’s it. I highly suggest have a reputable machine shop inspect them. Preferably someone that has Toyota/Lexus experience.

I have a shop that focuses on Toyotas doing the work I January and we already discussed that the machine shop they use will really be when we find out if its truly Borked. He also said that he had only seen it twice.

All 3 times my 22r head gasket blew on my 1985 it warped the head.

It needed 93 octane after the 3rd one.

Have you considered a low-mileage used engine instead? There would be more upfront cost but you'd be way ahead on labor, as R&R would be the same but you'd skip all of the disassembly/machine shop/reassembly time. A quick look online found several in the $4-6K range.

If engine repairs were actually $12K, you might be better off selling it as a "mechanic's special", possibly after stripping the good aftermarket parts. Presumably it would be work at least $3-4K even with a blown HG.

I bet once it was out the mechanics door it would be 12k.
