GX Objectively better than LX for off road. (1 Viewer)

This is such a strange place sometimes.

Has any Lexus ever come with front lockers in the US? Has any toyota? It's not going to happen.
An overtrail version of the LX? Has anyone listened to, I don't know, every single piece of marketing from Lexus about the GX? The GX overtrail was made specifically to scratch this itch in the market. How much would an LX overtrail cost and would anyone take that offroad? People already claiming almost no 1st owners will be taking their GX's off road (speculation but there's some truth to this and we all know it). There is no market for an offroad purpose LX.
I would take my GX 550 off road in the swamps of Alabama-- no rocks, just like my LC 20. Trying to determine whether the GX is equal to the LC.

Which locker did you install and what was the cost? Does a with fit in the console? Sorry if this is in another thread.
I didn’t install any lockers on my 200 although for the kind of driving I do I don't really need them. I used ARB air lockers on my 100. I bought my 60 new with the factory F and R lockers.

I'm an Outlier for sure, but I've played around off road and hunted out of my LX600, and while it certainly isn't designed to barrel across the mud, rocks, stumps, and hills like my modified tacoma, it did fine and was very, very comfortable.

I've also done multiple 2000-3000 mile road trips with my wife and three kids. Everyone does great. It's soooooo quiet inside, and super comfortable. The screens and such are objectively a little odd, agreed, but it all works well. There are plenty of charging points for devices, and lots of room for luggage and such. After owning more than twenty vehicles, it's my favorite. And at 27,000 miles and going, I'm very happy to have bought it.

My friend bought his wife and X7 last year, left her stranded on the highway overheating at 5000 miles. Another friend's Mercedes GLE lost its adjustable suspension at 60,000 miles and then transmission at 75,000. The expeditions and Navigators are great vehicles if you don't mind the Ford experience of quality--complete with squeaks and frequent repair visits.

I like Motor Trend's summary from a few years ago: for the Toyota/Lexus faithful, it's a great upgrade.

The LX600 and GX460 are like Mona Lisa wearing a mustache. Or an old nun in a bikini. Take your pick.

WTH were they thinking neutering the two very best SUVs in North America? Makes me mad every time I see them.

As someone who shopped the LX600 before buying a 2023 Navigator, I sometimes wonder what the LX experience would have been like. The navigator is bigger and more luxurious IMO, but it doesn’t “feel like a Lexus” either.

I appreciate your account of ownership, hope you enjoy many more trouble free miles.

And glad we have choices. The competition definitely improves the options.
