I was just talking about 4Runner and GX sales numbers today, with all of them I see running around here (since we bought ours of course), I'm shocked these numbers aren't higher. Especially with 4Runner sales reaching what they have, they seem almost as common as Jeeps....

They get driven more than Jeeps. Jeeps are often 3rd, 4th or 5th vehicles. For instance a Jeep is more likely to get cross-shopped with a boat or a jet ski.

Let's not forget all the time they spend in the repair shop too!!!

Its good to know there will be plenty of newer used V8 GX460s available in the future if the twin turbo V6 or turbo 4 turns out to be a turd in the GX 550.

Last I heard, it was going to be the V35A with the SR Tundra tune on it.
Have to admit, a GX with Tundra ponies under the hood may not be too bad...

I really like our ‘22 but I am excited for the 550. I won’t be an early adopter but we’ve pretty much written off the Sequoia due to the silly third row and cargo arrangement so the new GX is going to be front and center for our replacement. I have high hopes and my fingers are crossed that it checks most boxes.

I went to the Toyota, Sequoia website just to see what's shak'n and looking at the interior views, there doesn't look to be as much room behind the 3rd row seats and before. The space in the very back looks almost as small as our old 100 series with all three rows up.

It’s worse, messed around in one this past weekend. The third row room, cargo room and just general rear layout (silly tiny hybrid battery bump and lack of way to remove third row) were extremely disappointing and not conducive to how we’d like to use the vehicle. It pretty much killed it for us.

See, no bueno.

Wow! Those 3rd row seats don't hide or fold to flat??
Our old Hundy, the seats would fold up against the left and right rear windows. I was actually able to get a 4' x 8' plywood sheet back there! (Although, couldn't close the rear.)
And it was a breeze to remove the 3rd row seats also, but they were heavy.

I also heard we’re getting the next one badged as a Toyota Land Cruiser too
Maybe Prado badging??

Remindes me of a female soldier I had under my command a few years ago. She had the best first and last name ever: first: Mercedes; last: Prado. Now THERE's a name to be proud of!!

Yea the shelf thing is awful and supposedly no way to remove the third row, they are captive on the rails.

Just don't get why they would do that. Unless they expect only soccer moms to buy these.

No clue but it makes for a janky setup and we really wanted the third row easily removable for when we travel with our two 90lb dogs.

Definitely. Would be a no-go for a drawer / cooler setup as well.

Our Highlander has a much more usable 3rd row space when the seats are folded down like that.

Changes such as that, less-reliable twin-turbo V6 engines, and high vehicle costs will likely result in me holding on to my 470 as long as possible, prior to upgrading to a 460 or a 3UR powered Tundra at some point :)
