Group 31 battery tray and clamp retrofit

I'd be all over this, but I figured out how to mount my 31 series without the kit. PM BlackWater. He was wanting one....

Curious why you didn't just use the threaded posts and not the SAE posts. You only need to hog out the hole on the Alt/Start box bracket a tiny bit and it fits the battery perfectly. Then just clip off the SAE connector on your stock ground and throw on a properly sized ring terminal. This is how I have mine wired.

It's not like it's an Optima YellowTop that can't handle full amp loads on the threaded posts. The DH 31 and it's Odyssey twin are rated for full current draw on either sets of posts.
 
Interesting idea. Doing that would avoid the need for a bus bar. I will look into this. Thanks for the suggestion!

Which kit did you buy? Cause the one I have installed is great. Sure the welds are not art grade, but they are solid and the fitment is perfect. Meh.
 
The 100 Series engine bay isn't pretty to begin with. It looks like some dude picked up a tangled mess of cables and said, "guys, this will work in the new Land Cruiser! Let's put it right here, so you can't take the exhaust manifolds off or access anything!". Pipes and tubing, cables and harnesses running every which way, if the battery tray works...and it doesn't go flying out the engine, I'd be happy.

He bought the kit I didn't use, I think. The only reason I didn't use it was I got stuck in a sams club parking lot in a suit and with a dead battery. :bang:

I was in the same situation, grabbed the biggest battery I could fit without mods, barely squeezed between the radiator and A/C lines:
