I have been using a Haynes manual for 1980-1996 Land Cruisers and it had this image for the timing cover bolts:

But I only had 2 short bolts... So I put them in the in the two upper "B" spots.

I then downloaded the 3FE FSM and found this diagram:

So I think the long bolts in the short bolt spots which pulled the front end plate away from the block and caused the leak. Switched the bolts and all is well!

Just got back from a 2000 mile trip. Not without setbacks;)
Drove without an alternator from Reno to Salt Lake City. Replaced it and it lasted 20 miles... so back to Salt Lake City to replace it again.

Got snowed on in Moab

Planned on doing the BDR from Moab to Mexican Hat but weather stopped that. Did a short section including the Valley of the Gods which was amazing.

fuel pump relay quit outside of Mojave, got a new one in Bakersfield and made it home.

Developed an odd sloshing noise on acceleration and deceleration. After looking into it I found the rockers were full of water from the sun roof.
Despite the minor issues, the Gr80 did well and most importantly got me out and about and seeing new things!
