What are you done ng yo your bumper?

What are you done ng yo your bumper?

Had to add a little metal to the ladder swing arm stop. When I’d go over a good bump, it would slip past the stop and start bouncing against my lift gate. It’s all fixed now...

So I had a classic shudder in the motor indicating a miss of some sort. A quick scan revealed that it was in cylinder 6.

So I ordered some plugs and wires and decided to start with the easiest solution first. My good friend @ceylonfj40nut came over after a work trip to hang out and wrench. I can’t temember why he was under the truck when we were changing plugs and wires, but I will point out that he had some snappy shop shoes for the job.

Well, we had some trouble with those damn plug wire boots snapping off in the spark plug tubes. Three of six broke and this is a good reason not to use aftermarket wires. I don’t blame the PO, they didn’t do their own maintenance and the shop they used just cheaped out.

I tried pics, many different specialty pliers, but the best method I found was this...

Not my idea, I found it on another thread here on Mud. A 7/8” hole saw without the pilot bit rigged up to a socket extension. After a few minutes of grinding the old plastic and rubber boot away, I sucked out the shavings with a shop vac.

I used a funnel on the end of the hose to get down inside the spark plug tubes. It worked well. Eventually I got all the tubes cleared out and the new plugs installed.

After the OEM wires went on and everything was put back together, the old 1fz is purring better than ever.

Wicked Smaaaart @CaptClose!

Many will benefit from this post.

I think I was scoping out the oxygen sensor to see if it was loose. I would do anything to work on cruisers. Work clothes included. Fun times!!!

Hemostat or long skinny neddle nose are handy when dealing with spark plugs. I always seam to break the wires off.

Good tip Cim. I read of a few people that had luck with a hemostat... I just had no idea where to get one haha. Hopefully, I won’t have this issue again.

I bought some drawers out of a wrecked 80 and installed them, or more accurately CD and his family installed them while I was dying from kidney stones haha...

Here’s CD and Keaton getting everything squared up...

Kavi is cutting some new threads on a bolt because we didn’t have the correct bolt lying around and decided that making one was easier than going to the hardware store.

And the finished product...

Thanks again for your help guys!

Dude bolt that vise down.

Dude bolt that vise down.

Lol... it does look like it’s not bolted down, but I half-assed it and anchored it with just two bolts on opposing corners.

I just didn’t have enough bit or patience left to drill out the other two holes.

I know the feeling.:crybaby:

Those are sweet brother!!

I’m the same. Only two. Sometimes I need the vise in other places so less bolts makes it easier to move.

Exactly... plus, mine is a harbor freight vise, so I anticipate having to take it off to replace it soon! 😂

Installed and wired up the dual battery system this weekend. Anyone have any experience IBS? Not talking about irritable bowel syndrome, but the Intelligent Battery System. I think I’ve got it wired up correctly, but could use someone with experience to confirm a few things.

Starting work on my OBA system. Ordered the Quarter Panel Mount for @NLXTACY as well as the Wits’End Air Tank and Shelf package. I’m pretty excited about this setup. I considered a Powertank system as well, but it was important for me to have enough air to share with my friends on the trails. A Powertank is great, but a limited supply of air was something I considered a deal breaker.

Here are some pictures of the progress so far.

Switches will be mounted to the access panel as I have no need for air locker capability.

I’ll update soon once I get all the parts in to finish the installation. Stay tuned!

@fl4031003 is the king of finding Easter eggs. If you’re looking for something, chances are Monroy will find it. He came through on a pretty pristine wheel from an LS400 that I didn’t know, is a direct fit to the Land Cruiser. Thanks Jeff!
