I got this one. It doesn’t arrive until Monday so don’t know if it will work yet. Stay tuned…
quick update. Pulley arrived and I temp bolted it plus put a belt on. Alignment seems to be right on. I didnt have my phone on me, so no pics, but I’ll get the whole cooling system back together this weekend and test it out fully.
Seems like the cvf pulley did the trick. It cost more than the wp, but at least got me changed over to a 2f wp now and I didnt have to mess with the alternator or ps pump.
Looks like a win for the home team.

Awesome news!

Sounds like the same setup yes.

Went with the 16371-61010 pulley. Found it NOS here on the Classifieds section from a vendor based in UAE.

But I also saw some aftermarket reproductions or used ones. Being only 1 groove it's a lot less looked after than the 2 or 3 grooves versions.
Pump is 16100-61012.
You will also need a plastic fix fan if you don't already have one. I think the 6 blades one in the picture isn't available anymore...

"Dry tested" in the air next to my old pump that the alignements were good (pulley groove with other pulleys and fan not too close to radiator) and that looked good.
My FJ40 is actually currently at my mechanic to install it, should have it back in a few days to confirm. From what I heard it's now installed (and now doing other stuff planned). Only complain I heard from my mechanic is the 4 old bolts that broke in the engine block while removing the previous pump (installed since 1977...) but that another story.
So I can now confirm that this setup is working.

I put it there for future reference, 2F fix fan waterpump setup installed on a 1974 F.5, no modification needed, all alignements are good:
  • Waterpump: 16100-61012
  • WP gasket: 16271-60012
  • 1 groove pulley: 16371-61010 (to adapt if you need a 2 grooves pulley)
  • 6 blade fan fan: 16361-60090
  • Bolts WP to engine (*3): 91212-51040
  • Longer bolt for alternator bracket: Not available!
  • Spring washers (*4): 94512-01000
  • Bolts fan to WP (*4): 91611-B0825

FWIW. This thread spooked me and since vendors here were out, so I thought maybe I could snag a spare shown on Summit racing so I took a chance. Not the GMB-Japan pictured. Interesting though, the one they sent, has the volute casted to match the backing plate hole where as the GMB Japan didn’t quite match. (Mentioned “Here”) This new one from Summit also has a cast impeller. I can’t remember if the GMB Japan had the cast or stamped impeller. Can someone say? This one came in a GMB box but there are no GMB markings on the pump.
Who knows how good it is. I'll toss it on the shelf.

That's the GMB part # laser-etched on the front, but that sure looks a lot more like the CCP made pump sold by Gates, Car done, and others.

Any country of origin markings on the box?

Do those have the cast impellers? I'm wondering if a cast impeller is superior to a stamped one. I'm assuming the stamped is cheaper to make and I guess a cast impeller should be better but I guess it depends on quality of casting & machining.
It would be nice to see a comparison test done on these pumps for flow rates, pressures at various RPM's.
I think I'll pull the back plate for a better look at the impeller.

The cast impeller looks impressive over the stamped one, and it’s got to be more expensive to manufacture but without some sort of test data, who knows which is better?
A few test stand designs have come to mind, but I don’t have the time. However, I’d really like to see the results of a good quality comparison test.

Great intel and that all jives, mixing and matching is pretty doable through the whole range of F-2F-3F blocks. The biggest hangup with this conversion is the 16361-60090 is NLA and I'm yet to see an aftermarket source for the 16371-61010 pulley (also NLA). CVF is making the 16371-60090 and 16173-61070 so perhaps they'd be willing to make a 61010. The fan shortage is workable as we have a different OEM blade we've been using in it's place.

I never did post up pics of my finished install, but here it is. Everything lined up great. Whole cooling system is renewed and was doing great in 95 degree heat driving in the city yesterday. (Think I might still have an air bubble in there, since I only got 3.75 gallons with the refill, but I’ll keep an eye on it).
Also, fixed my power steering squeal finally…life is good!
My extra parts are listed in the classifieds if it helps anyone.
