Glove-box grab bar?

Also, if there is no tiny hole for that tab.. just drill a hole for that instead of trying to rotate the washer. And like said before, I think that tiny tab is to take the pressure off of the bolt from twisting in the grab bar when you tighten it down. I was actually hoping there was a larger mounting point for that bar than a tiny bolt going through the dash padding. Now I'll feel better when someone decides to really grab/tug onto the bar, and it won't rip out of the dash :)

Thanks for the pics Mot! Can't wait til you get the pre 95 bars in and sent :) Although, it will probably be mid winter here when I get it. So I would recommend either heating the whole cab to install it or at least put a hair dryer on the dash as to not create a crack that runs, due to a cold plasticy dash and drilling into it.

I had a chance to take some pics earlier today. The first one shows the factory tab for the outer mount of the bar, the inner one is going to require small hands since on the 93 is in a tight space. I can't remember the size of the hole we drilled this was over two years ago when I installed the grab bar. It is the same diameter as the bar. I tried to take a pic of this but it didn't come out well. Sorry I can't be more technical. Let me know if any one has more questions.

OK, the first picture (they show up like I expect) shows the bar from behind.
Notice the arrow pointing up (but actually after inspecting it with the finish of the bar from the upside and the bottom, I believe that the arrow is actually supposed to point "down" OK I took more pics to illustrate that. See the other pics).

You can see the imperfection at the middle of the bar which leads me to believe that it's supposed to be facing down, instead of up. You can also see it in relation to the pic I have with the arrow by the bolt and the tab's location.

Because of this discussion I decided to look at my own grab bar which appears to be the same as those pictured.

The dimple which appears in the second picture posted by Mok is up on top on my own grab bar, for whatever use that information serves.

Navid/Kalawang,

Thanks for chiming in and posting pics and stuff.

I do hope this helps some and whoever getting to installing the '95- bar first can shed some light on how we can go about doing it for those years'.

It looks like it's either Rick (landtank) or Todd (Koffer) who'll have the first shot at it.

May the Force be with them!

Mot :)

Here is an update:

Those of you I have received payments for should be seeing the bars to be arriving toward the end of next week (I hope). And those of you I have promised to get back to with shipping info., etc... I will try to get back to you soon!

Thanks!

Yeah, I think so. No rush -- just whenever you make another parts run. PM me with the specifics and I can paypal you the funds.

Thanks Mot.
Mot - please cancel my request, if you haven't already picked up a grab bar for me.

I have been contacted by someone who picked one up from you and has since changed his mind. I'll take his off his hands once the slow boat docks.

Thanks anyhow.

Doug,

OH, MAN!!!!

Just kidding!

I wonder who that "someone" is. ;)

Sorry that it took me awhile to get back to you. I was out checking out an 80 out of town yesterday. ;)

I failed to mention that I will not receiving the rest of the bars pictured above until the rest of my parts from the parts guy arrive (to his shop) after the 30th (Wed).

I'm REALLY sorry Rick, and those who have been waiting so patiently to receive them. :frown:

I will keep you posted.

Mot

Thanks again and I hope the :princess: enjoyed her stuff, too! :)

I'll look forward to seeing/hearing/reading about your installation adventure later. ;)

I'm sure those tabs on the ends will come into play as far as which side is up.

Looking at the bar for the 95+ its the same on both ends . It mounts on the flat part of the dash unlike the older style dash that is mounted on the curve .
This bar dosnt need to be mounted upside down when going from RHD to LHD .

The tabs will stay at the bottem as they were ment to .

Until Mot gets some in for the older style (non airbaged dash) and take a look the mounting it may be harder for the install.

Tonight I should have some pixs of the dash .

The parts guy is supposed to be getting them tomorrow, and I should have them by Friday (I hope).

I'm holding my breath, Todd! ;)

Hey Mot I know this is late but can I get in on this. After seeing Koffer's install I suddenly realized I need one of these. ;)

I have a '97 with oak interior.

Hey Mot,

After I saw the installation done by Koffer, I think I need to get one of this grab bar. I want one new in oak for 97 LX. Thanks.
