Getting ready for Moab

I get it, I was just trying to agree with you on having a truck that is mechanically ready. Just thought some other cruiser guys would like the pic, not saying low miles will get me through the trails.

Mine almost went over in my avatar. Since your with Rising Sun here in CO, you should try Derby Mesa it's a blast!

 No worries mate, and, if you were an old 3FE lister you would get the significance of odo pics and how humorous they can be. Sea Knight, Yooper or several other original 3FE listers that hang on mud could explain further. Certainly not busting your chops as my 62 came to me with more miles than yours over 10 years ago. Good on ya for what you have. It's barely broken in!
Not familiar with Derby Mesa, at least not by that name, and am always up for expanding my trail experience. Thanks for the heads up!
Hugh and Safari Ltd. are good people.

Hey Trapper,

Hugh is a great guy. His shop is top notch and he most certainly stands behind his work.

That pic is sweet. One day...one day!

Two more things that weren't on the list...

And 2 new cheap JVC speakers (painted brown to match the door panels) coutesy Wally World. Gotta have tunes on the road trip!

I need to paint my rear speaker covers too. But then again the speakers are kenwood and grills are pioneer. How you like the mirrors? mine shake bad.

First it had to sink in, how big they were. Its a dramatic visual change (they've only been on a couple hours) and they do shake a bit but I don't notice its not that bad once I'm rolling. To my mind the extra visible area compensates for the little bit of shake.

Edit: I didn't have the gasket and little underclip installed correctly, I do now and they don't shake very much at all

That 45 out front, makes me drool, I know where there is one, just sitting on the frame with no drivetrain or bed, and Hugh's (don't know him personally, but apparently it belongs to him) makes me want to spend a lot of money.

Back to the thread, I was hoping to get in some good runs this year, but finances and time have prohibited any major cruiser projects, so no cruise moab for me this year (makes me wish I still had my 80 as a daily driver, it would have made it)

I've already started adding up the stuff i can sale to finish my cruiser...Anybody want my wife's minivan? Just kidding, she'd kill me. Hopefully some stuff will be getting done soon on it. Trapper, I lover yoru rig man, very tastefully done.

Trapper,

I love your 60. Hopefully mine will be up to those kinds of standards by 2010. I may then join you in Moab!

Awwww Shucks:o

Thanks guys, Ingrid started nice (coming to be from Ige) and the addiction set in something fierce. It's my greatest vehicle ever. Perfect for my life.

Can't wait to get to Moab and hang with others with the same convictions

that's exactly how I felt about my 88 FJ 62, before she was prematurely taken away from me by somebody that thought stop signs were optional. I've been trying to make this poor 60 live up to that ever since.

Rest her wandering soul

YEah, I love that pic, we call it "Team Tan". It's nice to hang out with the 45 guys.

Thanks for my new background...awesome shot:beer:

That's funny. Right after he posted that pic I put it as my background also!!

well I decided today i would start and do the desmog. Well i was taking off air hoses so i could get to stuff and the hose thats connected to the air rail came off with out much effort or the hose clamped removed. It was rusted out and about 1/8" of pipe was holding it on. so I am sure that was helping the truck run good ;)

Got some progress done today. Sorry no pics yet. I cut the old rusted out stock muffler off and welded in a magnaflow. I was going to reuse the stock tail pipe but it was going to be in the way of the rear 1/4 protection. so i went to minieke to have them put small bend to get around the shock and then strait out the back keeping it inside the frame rail. well they told me it wasn't possiable. so i go and see what they are talking about and they are using all prebent pipes with large bends and said i needed to buy a muffler from them to make it right. i said nah and jumped up in it and backed it off the lift and left.

Got the rear sliders welded up and ready for tubing. Which will is getting bent up tomorrow.

and all i have to do on the desmog tomorrow is plug up the egr cooler and weld the top egr pipe and the pipe going to the exhaust. I found all kinds of stuff wront with the vac lines. There was one port on one of the valves on the tstat that was broke. so I have to get a bolt to plug it. I am going to drain the coolant tomorrow so I can replace a few hoses and that will allow me to plug up that port.
