Well we had a little set back today. I put probably 100 miles on the 60 today and it really ran good. I got home and wanted to finish my skid plate so i could paint it. well i crawled under the truck to get the ideal angle for the front part of the skid. well i noticed some oil on the new tranny, thinking it might be leaking around the plugs. well i just look up and my whole cross member is dripping with oil and the inspection pan is covered. pulled the cover and it had standing oil in it. so tomorrow out comes the tranny to check the rear main or a oil plug thats on the back of the block.
tomorrow night was suppose to be easy. just get a hair cut and pack for moab and for the wedding back home.
I'd put my money on the rear main, since that is the only thing we messed with down there. It either pushed out, or I messed it up going in. This rear main seal went in smooth. Two taps with the PVC end cap and it was in. It went in way smooth. Maybe it was too easy....
It turns out that the seal lip got crunched and caused the leak. That was good news, since it was an easy fix. Just over two hours from start to finish to get the tranny out, new seal in and all buttoned up. We also installed a carb from Mark on Matt's cruiser. It needs a little adjustment but overall runs pretty darn good.
Yep the rear main was the problem. A huge thanks goes to exrsa1 and britklr for pulling it while i had to run and get a haircut and some other things for the wedding.
Today I cut a piece of plywood for my cargo area and polyurathaned it and put some d rings down on it so i can strap stuff down to keep it from flying around. I also got the skid plate done and painted and once the tranny was done i bolted it up. I put my tools and everything that might be needed in one action packer and fluids and some gaskets and hoses and other things. It now sits about a inch lower than than the front now. I will probably lighten my load some once i get to camp. But She is ready to go on the trailer. I fly out to virginia tomorrow at 4 to get married this saturday and we fly back monday night to kansas city then turn around and start driving to moab tuesday morning. I cant wait. I am like a kid the night before christmas but its still a week away. I look forward to meeting the guys that are going to be there.
I will post pictures of it loaded down tomorrow and ready to go.
Come Matt, your amoung friends here. You can tell them that "some other things for the wedding." means you got a manicure/pedicure for your bride and that's why you couldn't install the trans.....

i did get a manicure last week cause my hands looked like a grinder got ahold of them. I was going to go get another one last night before we left today but the cruiser came first. so what my hands look like crap in wedding pictures. 20 years from now we can look back and look at the pictures and say yep they still havn't changed lol. I also sligtly touched the exhaust last night with the back of my hand so its got a big burn mark so I am really not worried about it.
One step forward, 5 steps back...... I was cruising along adjusting my steering that was off a tad. Then this happened. See picture.
